Hope everything is OK with The Cliffs and their people, following the earthquake. Have any of you heard from them?

Their Website appears normal and no announcements about damage, closures, etc.
I did look on Google Earth for info. The Cliff's address is: Decher1031, Puerto Varas Chili . Just plug this address in and they will pop up. The image for Cliff's is older and before the quake. One thing that Google Earth does show is the location of the quake and aftershocks. For what it is worth, it looks like everything is north of them and they should be OK.

Re: The Cliffs Preserve - Los Muermos, Chile
mountie...we had sent an email to the GM at The Cliffs, after attempting unsuccessfully to reach them by telephone. In his reply, received this morning, he indicated there were no guests in residence at the time of the quake. Needless to say, he and the other staff members were startled with the early morning shaking....but no structural damages were experienced. The staff did evacuate away from the beach areas and headed to higher ground in fear of tsunami possibilities...they returned later after the "all clear" was given.
His email closed with assurances that Chile will overcome the present problems (as it has in the past) and move forward.
We would certainly consider a return visit. So keep the faith and look for future LL packages.

Thanks for the update O. Also received email from Liz Caskey down in Chile. She will be sending updated info about how to help quake victims. What a tragedy.

Hey, -O-, did you read this article in the NYT:

Thanks, mountie. I did see the article. I have also received some emails from wine operations in Chile that are still assessing their damage following the quake and after shocks. If their facilities pass the inspections over the next few days, many of them will be able to continue with the upcoming harvest and processing.
Apparently, SCL is back in operation and receiving international flights.- Ω -

bonniejoy03 and -O-, looks like The Cliffs has started offering 3 and 4 night packages again on LL. That is the good news. The bad news is it looks like the prices have gone off the charts compared to what you guys paid. Am I crazy or do I have a bad recall on the pricing?
Would either or both of you travel there again at these prices?

Re: The Cliffs Preserve - Los Muermos, Chile
mountie...we noticed The Cliffs is back up for auction...pricing is higher, but the package includes a villa suite, not the junior suite offered in the original package we purchased. We walked through a couple of the villa suites and they are larger than the junior suites and also have fireplaces....so, you are getting more for your money.
Of course, we would return to The Cliffs! I, personally, would wait a while until the country stabilizes from the recent earthquakes before I would jump on a plane and head south.
It is a great destination, especially if you are into outdoor activities. You would love the fishing!
I have some additional comments on the property, I just haven't gotten around to posting them in my blog yet.....soon!- Ω -

Mountie. I second O's comments. Also, keep in mind that all food and drink is included. The location is perfect. I would love to go back. Also, your activities are included. We were able to spend a day fishing for brown and rainbow trout with our own guide. Another day we went to Chiloe Island which is known for its penguin colonies and other interesting ways of life. The Cliffs offer a small group experience. I loved it!!! We are hoping to go back to South America in March 2011. Hopefully LL will have some great packages!!

mountie...if you feel The Cliffs Preserve is not in your price range, than maybe you would consider another new Chile offering here in LL....

We have traveled in this region, although not staying at this hotel, and you will be amazed by the experience.- Ω -
