07-05-2007, 05:51 AMHonduras and Pico Bonito
I recently purchased a Luxury Link package to The Lodge at Pico Bonito in La Ceiba, Honduras. I would like to hear from anyone who has been to Honduras/Pico Bonito regarding safety and health concerns. I am reading that preventative Malaria treatment is a must, and would like some feedback from others who have been there, as well as any other tips you might have. We are considering not going and just chalking it up to a loss of $$$. Thanks!

Re: Honduras and Pico Bonito
Hi Terriepp. I have not been to Pico Bonito but Omegaet, another VIP contributor has been there. Please read his posts and blogs about Honduras and Pico. This might help you. I have personally been looking at Pico and I really don't think Honduras is any more of a safety and health concern than some other places. If you are going during rainy season, you MIGHT want to talk to your doc about anti-malaria pills. We even take them for Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Belize. Its just insurance to us. In most US communities, you can contact a world health medical office. This office will tell you what shots, meds, etc you will need for some countries. You might want to contact them for peace of mine. As to safety concerns, they do have wildlife out there that could be quite interesting. I don't think they hurt people. Please do read the Pico Bonito posts by Omegaet. I think this is a wonderful get away and you are very lucky to have the opportunity!
