Thank you, redazalea, for that excellent post. I think you hit all the things we have been wondering about.

I have a trip scheduled with Inkaterra in September and have had the same frustrating experience with their sales office. I'm concerned, however, about the construction at La Casona in Cusco. Did it seem like it might be finished by September? I'm wondering if I should contact Inkaterra about that issue because it sounds terrible to have had that construction going on while you were staying there.

Hi all, As I posted earlier our trip with Inkaterra went flawlessly., Of course, we did not stay at the Cusco property (they wanted 600 a night when I was booking!) so we stayed at the Hotel Monasterio (an Orient Express, which we loved, especially since both of us got very sick.)
They treated us as family and I will never forget their hospitality, the doctor, etc.
So, the trip..
Have a video posted; we are new at this, but it will give you a REAL look at INK properties; first on in the Amazon (3 n); then the video shows us flying over Cusco, where we hired OUR OWN guide and drove through the Sacred Valley to Ollantatambo, a ruin and a village which is awesome. We stayed in a hotel there full of beautiful flowers, and an unbelievalbe stable of horses called Hotel Soly Y Luna
While there we happened (so lucky) upon a guide you will see holding a red water bottle, Eddie, who is from Ollanta, very passionate and extremely well spoken. Took us allover the ruins with great stories, and then through the village. We visited locals with him, and enjoyed Ollanate very much...
Then we take the train to Machu; you will see on the video, a store with locals hanging out. That is a small town on the way to MP where the train stops.
Next up is Inkaterra MP..a lovely setting and beautiful rooms; good service..Our guide is from Inkaterra and we enjoyed him immensely..you will see him in the video with me.
MP is incredible and the stories told are very important to the experience. So get a guide if you go.
Back to Sacred Valley and an overnight at INKATERRA villa, where you see the HOUSE we stayed in, and the housekeeper starting a fire for us. A festival was going on in Ollante so Eddie picked us up and took us..an unbelievable, fun time. Took us to a private party, but we felt we should not be snapping pics the whole time, so we just enjoyed the night.
Next on to Cusco, the city with all the cathedrals, Unfortunately we have very few pics as both of us became very ill and the camera was not on our minds . so we left off the video with where we spent most of our time while at the Hotel Monasterio!
Hope you enjoy the video, there are no captions; that is why I gave a short report above. My DH is learning this as we go along, so hoping we will get better as the trips progress.
There is also a group of pics from last year's Africa trip if you are interested. They are not in "video" format, just shots.
I do hope Inkaterra reads the reports about their SALES DEPT, . because the rest of the "team" is awesome. Like I said, Ask for Gabriella; she really did care after the others ignored us.
MAYBE someone at LL can talk to them about this on-going problem. It does not make for good PR.
Here is the site: gallery.mac.com/greenlanternjw
Enjoy and I will be happy to answer specific questions. i am rushing this as i am about to leave again for a family thing.

The Inkaterra Cusco property was scheduled to be completed by 2007. They are working very hard to complete construction. I am sure that by Sept the public spaces and rooms will be most-likely be completed. I would be concerned about the administrative offices and back spaces, because they were totally unfinished and if they leave that for last...the noise could be unpleasent. The hotel is gorgeous and if it is ready...you are in for a treat!

Hi all
We are going on the LL Inkaterra 6 day tour in March.
Your messages have been very helpful.
We stay at Amazonica, in Cusco La Casona Inkaterra and MP Inkaterra.
Does anyone know if the Cusco resort is complete now?
It seems that's where most people suffer from Altitude Sickness --Would you advise only staying there 1 night?
Any suggestions, info, would be appreciated. I'd love to hear from someone who didn't suffer from Alt.
problems too!
Thanks

Dear Rosalita,
My husband and I will be going to several Inkaterras in a few weeks. We'll post our experiences in mid-December.

Elyseea,
I see from your previous postings you were having problems with Inkaterra. Try speaking with Gabriela--we found her to be extremely helpful

Thanks Rosalita. And for all readers, I would echo Rosalita's comments. Once I did get through to Gabriela and Carla, they were very helpful and accommodating. The challenge seemed to be back at the initial contact moment -- which can have some frustrations if one is trying to arrange and confirm flights, dates, etc. Some other posters had similar challenges.
However, once connected everyone at Inkaterra has been wonderful and we are very much looking forward to the trip. So I would have no hesitancy recommending them -- and will write more when we return.

rosalita106...you might also try sending danaa70 a Private message (she doesn't visit the community everyday) and ask her for some additional information regarding her InkaTerra experience and who she contacted. She also has a link in one of her postingsto avery interesting video presentation she prepared from her trip. Good luck.
