We were close by when we stayed at Morgan's Rock. A friend used to be involved with the company. I think it would be a nice travel option. It is a bumpy road from Managua to San Juan. Lots of food choices/

too bad they don't have other offerings in Nicaragua now - I am looking to combine packages like I did in March with Mexico - since we can only do 1 vacation a year now, I want to make the best of the gift certificates!

I can agree with you. Though....without a package, look at Los Robles in Managua and El Convento in Leon, and Morgan's Rock in San Juan del Sur. The 1st two are pretty good in price. Morgan's used to be offered on LL. We stayed there twice and loved it.

Just an FYI...Pelican Eyes was on House Hunters International last evening. A couple was looking for a place to purchase. They chose the Pelican Eyes Studio. Very nice!

I saw that last night - the studio was nice but I was not too impressed with Pelican Eyes overall - looked like a typical "condo that you can rent out resort" If I was going to buy in Latin America I would want a house but they always seem to steer Americans to these condo communities -I would not live in a condo community in the USA so I would never live in one somewhere else.
I also noticed that the price for that studio was $185,000 - pretty high for a studio in Nicaragua - so you know the place was built for foreigners to live in. I doubt many locals could even afford to live there.

I have been noticing that once Americans "discover" a place and either move there or want a vacation home there, the prices really escalate! The whole point of moving or going to another country is to experience that country not to make it just like the USA ut that seems to be the trend these days

I couldn't believe the price also. It really is a nice community with some of our Central American friends involved with the project.

I was interested in Pelican Eyes too, until I saw the resort layout and realized it's a condo type place. It just looked way too commercial for us. We have easy access to Riviera Maya for Hacienda Tres Rios for 4 nights each year. I can't imagine staying at Pelican Eyes (strange name--doesn't conjure up any image) for 5. A long ride from MGA? Whenever I see "Phase II" I think construction and a massively invasive resort. I don't like the "distant" oceanview and lack of pools for such a large property.
