Peru warning issued by US State Dept.

I heard on the news this morning that the US State Dept. has issued a big warning on Peru - telling folks that there is a very high risk of Americans being kidnapped in the Machu Pichu area. They have told all state dept. employees not to visit that area.

Peru has not had a big warning issued for a very long time - wonder if the Shining Path has been reactivated!

Thanks for the posting. I have been looking at Peru for a while, I guess, I'll hold off a little longer.

So, seems like the 'threat' was an over reaction caused by two young people who neglected to post on their Facebook because they couldn't get Internet access from their Amazon river boat adventure!

Wow - where did you hear this? What a couple of dummies expecting internet access on an Amazon boat! I guess when their friends did not see any FB postings they got worried and called the state department ;-)

Hey Mom, just let your 25 year old go to Disneyland and then maybe he can travel outside the country when he grows up!

And, after causing all of the bad press, etc....the clowns get a free flight on the president's plane and a luxury hotel stay. At least, Peru got rid of them and sent them to Ecuador. I'm sure they will manage to get 'lost' again in hopes of more freebies.
