hi

i am looking for advise on places to stay around the cancun area. we would perfer to stay in small towns close by, we are anticipating moving around but want to stay away from the large tourist hotspots...any suggestions?

Consider Puerto Morelos. It is not "touristy," close enough to Cancun and Akumal or even the ferry.
