Ummmmmmmmmm - and I was going to use Mexicana for my flight from MC to Puerta Vallarta in March - I was on their website and they had some really good deals but don't want to get stranded!

08-08-2010, 09:02 AMdenise....Mexicana has had some maintenance issues in the past.....one of the reason they lost code-sharing with a US carrier....kyshel can probably discuss that in greater detail.- Ω -

I did hear back from the folks at Lumina Suites and they told me that Mexicana click (their internal flight off shoot is operating normally and is fine)
Maintenance issues - as in dangerous?

08-09-2010, 11:42 AMdenise....forgive me for using "maintenance" when I should have said "code-sharing and schedule maintenance." I think you will be perfectly safe flying with them...just keep checking their schedules. If we were flying inside the country, we would gladly fly them.- Ω -

08-09-2010, 11:48 AMdenise...forgive me for writing "maintenance" when I intended to write "schedule & code-share maintenance." I don't think there are any abnormal safety issues.- Ω -

well, they've just made arrangements to return 40% of their leased fleet due to the bankruptcy
I think some flight schedules will have to be adjusted
I don't know anything about their offshoot--it's it's a subsidiary or wholly-owned or how it is effected"wherever you go, there you are"

Just found out from Mexicana airlines itself - you can still by tickets but not online and not with a credit card - you need to go to your nearest airport with a Mexicana counter and purchase your ticket with cash! I think I will fly Aeromexico for the upcoming trip.

08-23-2010, 12:18 PMI would say it's wise to plan for Aeromexico--considering the status of Mexicana is like a jumping bean..."wherever you go, there you are"
