02-08-2007, 12:12 PMRe: Need suggestions for All Inclusive Resort in Mexico for couples
I have no preference. I have been to Cabo San Lucas four times but haven't been there for at least 13 years. So I know it has changed alot. But I really don't care where in Mexico we go, I am looking at what the all-inclusives have to offer. The number of resturants, beach, pools, sports activities- land and sea, and night life. All the suggestions so far have looked wonderful!! I have only been to one AI, I just got home a week ago from Beaches Turks and Caicos. We loved it but some of these resorts listed look much nicer.

Re: Need suggestions for All Inclusive Resort in Mexico for couples
Thought I'd toss in my thoughts, too.
I have been to many all-inclusives in the Riviera Maya area.
Unfortunately, the Royal Hideaway is out of my budget (I keep wondering what they do for you for that kind of money/per day?) but I have been to the property.
First, I truly dislike any of the properties withing the gated community of Playacar (which is not Playa del Carmen town). I dislike PDC (called Playa) due to the flow of ship tourists. It's a dirty little town with tourist prices ($5 for local margaritas/$3 beers) The areas south of Playa are different. Beaches are much nicer, resorts are more remote and separated from one another)
The Aventura Spa Palace is one of the nicest in that area. They have great specials (Jan is good month to go!) if you like spas, theirs is quite excellent! The pools, restaurants and top-notch and rooms are mostly the same (except for Pres rooms which are timeshare/condos) with in-room booze dispensers and double jacuzzis.
I understands from TA friend that Riu properties are good deals/quality also.
I am not the Secrets type--too honeymooney for me. There was recent article about Riviera Maya in Budget Travel and one property was not very budget oriented below Tulum/Akumal(sorry, my hubby doesn't let me keep all my travel mags any more!)
There are places like Any y Jose which are not AI but if you have a large group, perhaps thats an option to take the whole place. I guess it depends on how much luxury you want. The ruins are good side trips and getting a few cars is much cheaper than taxis, unless you pre-arrange a bus and rent cars separately
We have been to H10 (used to be Club El Mandarin) and it's rather nice, but not overly lux. Both Wyndhams are dumps, but we also like Moon Palace (once was enough--it is HUGE--but so close to CUN airport)
I don't recommend Cozumel UNLESS majority of party dives. The properites there are very focused on diving and that's about it.
Allegro porperties are typically low-end, and the Grand properties are nicer--ones like Xpu Ha are very kid-oriented and more amusement park style.
Hope this helps--If I come across anything else, I'll pass it on."wherever you go, there you are"

Sorry--I forgot to add that we recently went to Cabo for a short stay--obviously, very memorable! Stayed near town of San Jose de los Cabos (the other town is Cabos San Lucas--the one where you see the cruise ships)
Not the best beaches or tourist area to prowl--like a tiny Cancun wedged in wherever there's beachfront. The best properties are SSL area above the beaches up on the hills.
Ck the areas around Manzanillo, Zihuatanejo (sp?)
Again, it depends on your needs/wants"wherever you go, there you are"
