Re: Puebla, Mexico - Meson Sacrista del al Campania
According to their web site, he is still the chef. I will ask him about the elote. My husband is looking forward to the classes very much since he is the cook in the family, I am not a cook and don't particularly like to cook but am looking forward to the trip and who knows, I may even change my mind about cooking after these classes ;-)
I am more interested in the colonial architecture and getting to Teotihucan and Cholulawhile we are there.
Contacted the hotel to reserve a particular suite and they answered very quickly and professionally - off to a good start with this property. Getting all kinds of useful information about the area and how to get around to some other destinations while we are there.

Leaning towards one of the Guanajuato packages to keep the colonial Mexico theme going - anyone ever been to Guanajuato? It is about 3 hours northwest of Mexico City and Puebla is about 2 hours south of MC so distance wise they are pretty reasonable for bus or car driving. Also Teotihucan is about in the middle of both so would be able to get see this wonderful site.

We have made the decision on the 2nd part of this trip - after our 6 nights in Puebla, we have added a 3 night package to Puerta Vallarta - we have never been there and it is whale watching season in March - so should be fun. Checking to see if we can add a 4th night onto the package.

All too often, contributors don't follow up a post like this--thanks a bunch and I hope it's a wonderful combination of LL packages. Of course, we DO expect a report later on both properties!

Denise...you're certainly adding variety into this trip....Colonial Puebla and the flashy beach glitz of Puerta Vallarta....maybe even a whale sighting or two. Since you tend to fall into the adventure traveler catagory....you might want to investigateSan Sebastin del Oeste, which is an interesting destination up in the mountains to the east of Puerta Vallarta....no condos, no large hotels, just muy authentico....maybe not a driving experience you want to undertake, but there is a small airstrip and service from Puerta Vallarta. If you are thinking about adding a night.....you might want to add it up there and stay in one of the great local accomodations.
But most importantly, remember, world class Blue Agave is grown in Jalisco State....hummmmm!- Ω -

Do tell how you're planning to get from Puebla to PV. Are the connections easy or complex within Mexico?
I must agree adding another day in PV is definitely worth it. The place has so much to offer.

Re: Puebla, Mexico - Meson Sacrista del al Campania
The land portion of the trip is booked - now comes the fun part - international and internal airfare! We will fly into Puebla from the US and fly out of PV - found pretty good fare on Continental (I think Continental still has the best flights to so many destinations in Latin America - more routes , more cities and usually good fares - this particular fare will be around $481 per person from my home town of Philly - I can probably get it even lower if I feel like flying out of Newark - but the hubby hates driving to Newark and it is a very congested airport). Internal flights are a little different - I can fly out of Puebla, stop in Guadalajara and then onto to PV on Mexicana - 1 way around $186. If we get a ride from Puebla to Mexico City and fly out of there to PV it is a little less expensive for 1 way but it does take 2 hours to get to Mexico City airport from Puebla - so have to decide if the 2 hour drive is worth the savings. We can do a bus from Puebla to PV but it is very long!
We will probably rent a car in PV since we want to see some of the Pacific coast areas - never been there before. The Puebla portion will be busy with cooking classes (the LL package gives us 15 hours), but we do want to do the day thing to Teotihucan and also go to Cholula - both archaeological sites which is my interest along with the colonial architecture and of course shopping. The cooking is for the hubby since he is the cook in the family - I may suprise myself and end up liking the cooking classes - we will see!
p.s not a huge tequilla fan and neither is the hubby but will probably have a few margaritas - "when in rome....."
