Amazing Stay - Ravella At Lake Las Vegas, NV

We try to get away to Las Vegas at least once a year. Normally it is 3 to 4 days on the Vegas strip, then home again. This year while researching on LL for places to stay, I came across a package at the Ravella on Lake Las Vegas. I had never heard of this area, so a little research showed that it was just 20 minutes from the strip, with a Mediteranean-style village built on the lake. It looked so pretty that we decided to extend our trip this year to 6 days, splitting half with the strip and half with the Ravella. Boy, am I glad we did!

The Ravella used to be a Ritz Carlton until it was purchased last year by a new company. When they did, they made the smart decision to bring in all the same staff. Excellent, caring, friendly, personable, perfect service employees that are obviously very proud to be working at this hotel. Anyone that travels knows that this makes all the difference in your stay.

When I booked the room at the Ravella, I noted that it said my room was 960 square feet......ok, I admit I thought it would be big, but that the square footage must be a type-o. It was not. Our room was HUGE, and overlooked the pool and lovely lake from the top floor. It had 1.5 bathrooms (very large marble main one off the bedroom, and the half bath off the entry), double doors between the bedroom and livingroom, a livingroom, 2 desk areas, 2 seating areas, 2 big screen TVs, 2 friges, 3 large closets.....etc... You get the picture. It was so beautiful - the pictures online do not even begin to do it justice.

The area has a village with shops and restaurants, a small casino and 24 hour restaurant attached to the hotel, a golf course, and a marina where you can rent different water craft for exploring on the lake, or take an evening cruise. We were in our room the first night and heard amazing singing outside. We opened the window and saw a gondola on the lake, with a couple being seranaded to "O Solo Mio" by the gondolier as he toured them around on the water. So romantic (and now on my bucket list for our next stay).

If you stay at the Ravella and don't want to rent a car, they will pick you up at the Vegas airport for $30. They have daily shuttles to / from the MGM Grand on the Vegas strip for free. From there take one of the sky trams to the strip locations of your choice. We had a car and drove to the strip a couple of times for shows. It would only take us 15 minutes to get from the Ravella to a hotel on the strip.

The LL packages come with a $100 food credit. Besides their restaurants, bars, and room service, some of the Village restaurants will allow you to charge your bill to the room, and you can use the credit to pay it. Check with the desk upon check in to find out which restaurants extend this courtesy & verify the credit can still be used for it.

Ravella has the Village, water, and a golf course. A new paved bicycle / jogging trail has been put in that looks to go several miles towards Lake Mead. The Lake Mead recreation area is just 4 miles away. We took one afternoon to drive to Laughlin, NV just to see what was there. Besides the casinos that many people visit, our best find was the Outlet Mall across from the casinos. It is far enough from a major city that it truely is an outlet mall (farther away - better the prices). My hubby does not like to shop, but he LOVED this mall and purchased several items. Next time I will take an extra suitcase for purchases!

My husband told me this morning that when we go back to Vegas, he wants to stay at the Ravella instead of the Vegas Strip. He said you could actually use the pool (not a "posing" meat market as many on the strip are), and so close to the strip you could still enjoy it without all the noise when you didn't want to gamble.

Sounds really nice! I remember reading articles about this hotel (when it was the Ritz) and wondering what was going to happen to it when the economy went down. I'm glad someone has really capitalized on the beautiful and convenient opportunity!
