Arizona ~Sedona Rouge rises to the occassion
Looking for some hiking and incredible weather? Take off to Sedona. We just got back and what a find. It is not often people, places and service merge and rise above the expected. I don't know what these guys have in their drinking water, but hey, champagne and chocolate covered, ripe, yummystrawberries two nites in a row? An extra $25 credit gift certificate for what? Do we just look like fun folks? There own superior brand of store size, beautifuly packaged hair and skin care productsonly to be outdown by being filled with scentually, superior ingredients, lined up for our pleasure along the front of the the spa tub! And, that was just next to the air jet bubble tub. The smaller, regular size products were available in the shower area. The food in the restaurant is nothing to go on about, although their house red wine will surprise you. I believe it was a local Syrah.
The Spa rooms facing the red rocks cannot be beat. The flat screen tv could only be enhanced with the delivery and hook up of a DVD player so we could listen to our own tunes.
A little music, bubbles, and a very quickly served up dinner in the room, (oops they need a cart so you don't have to eat your lambchops in bed) and life is good!
If you are into yoga don't miss their class on Thusday - Sunday. The instructor is a trip. She reminds me of the girl from Latvia on the old Taxi series. You can't help but laugh and right 'ohmmm' about it.
Massage was ok, treatment room is blah, spa waiting area nice, needs tweeking in the air vents in couples massage roomnot to squeek, and no rushing us!. For that kind of money I expect a little more involvement from the therapist. You know, either get some energy going, mix in some change of rythms and spirinkle in some stillness and then your talking a $100 massage!
The service was all exceptional. I think this place is amazing and I don't know how they do it for the price they charge. Kudos to all and especially Wendye!

Hi Dale
Sounds like the Sedona Rouge is a fabulous resort to visit in Arizona. Last time I toured Colorado part of the plan was to head south to New Mexico and Arizona. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans...though it was mid-April, she dumped a ton of heavy snow on the highways out of Aspen and we were stuck for a few days. Didn;t mind it at all, since the skiing was superb. Anyhow, your post has led me to move my plans for Arizona forward and Sedona Rouge will likely be our destination. Thanx!

Hi Dale,
Thanks for your interesting post, sounds like a good find. We have been to Sedona several times and always enjoyed our visits there to the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, found lots of good stuff there. The scenary there is breathtaking. The Sedona Rouge Resort must be relatively new, I don't remember it from our stays out there. Had wonderful lunches at the Auberge right by the Creek. We usually stayed at the lovely Carefree Inn in Carefree, AZ which is now a LL property. Keep up the good work.

Hi Cuirt,
We too had a similar experience when Mother Nature dumped a couple of feet of snow on us in Colorado. We were leaving Milwaukee to drive out West before settling East. We caught the last weekend before Vail closed for the season and had a fantastic time of spring skiing to sunshine and blue sky. Then we drove on and camped at the Canyon of the Gunison. What a surprise the next morning when our tent was covered under a mountain of snow...

Hi L
What an experience! I too was quite caught unawares and ended having to backtrack all the way north-west to Colorado Springs to get back on the Interstate and then head east to Denver to catch my flight home. Everything turned out Ok in the end and I got to spend a bit more time in Colorade than planned and also got to enjoy the splendor of all that new-fallen snow high along the Continental Divide. What a treat!
