This B&B was gorgeous! I can't say enough nice things about the staff and all of the rooms were gorgeous! The best part of our trip was the delicious breakfasts and wine/hors de vours in the living room by the fire.

Hi wraymond :
Sounds like you had a wonderful stay in Vermont. Quick question, what is the skiing like near The inn at Roundbarn, I'm looking for a great little B&B in Vermont but I do want to do some skiing. Last year we went to The Equonix Spa but the snow wasn't as plentiful at it should have been....

Re: INN AT ROUNDBARN, VERMONT
Hi enewseven,
Right, last year was very bad for New England skiing, and this year is shaping up to be even worse. But there's still hope. The Inn at Round Barn is in the Mad River Valley, so you should be able to ski at SugarBush or Mad River Glen. Mad River Glen is a more old-style mountain, not much snow-making, but should be great if there's natural snow. SugarBush claims to make more snow. We'll bein that areanext weekend, but not holding out much hope for decent skiing. The mountains near Manchester (Stratton and Mount Snow) are smaller. But with good snow they're fun too, if you're not looking for a real challenge.

hi wraymond
Where in Vermont is this great B&B located? Anywhere near Stowe?
Does the Inn at Roundbarn have a website? If it does and you know it, please share it with me and the other travel-crazy folks on LL Community. Thanx.

Re: INN AT ROUNDBARN, VERMONT
Hi curtiejoe,
I passed the sign for the Inn at Round Barn this weekend. It's about 2 miles off Route 100 in Waitsfield.

Stowe is about 25 miles further north off Route 100. If I were going to ski, this inn is very close to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. Stowe is about 35-40 minutes away.

Re: INN AT ROUNDBARN, VERMONT
hi VIP disneygalHow are the skiing conditions near Waitsfield now? heard that much of the north-western New England ski areas had a lot less snow than normally. The Inn at the Round Barn has a cozy but elegant look to it. I think the Dana Room would suit my wife and I to a tee. Thanx for the weblink and the directions relative to Stowe, which is a place we've been through in years past.curtiejoe

Re: INN AT ROUNDBARN, VERMONT
Hi there Curt,
On MLK weekend Sugarbush actually had good conditions Sunday and Monday when we skied. Some of the mountain was closed due to lack of snow, but what they had open was pretty good. We went up to Stowe for some shopping and heard conditions there were icy. But winter seems to have hit in New England, with low temperatures and snow expected in many areas. So things seem to be looking much better for skiers. Sugarbush is now advertising 13 inches of snow in the past 72 hours. Mad River Glen says they got over 2 feet! I would go for it, especially if there's a good LL package.

Re: INN AT ROUNDBARN, VERMONT
Hi VIPdgalThat's radical! Two feet at Mad River Glen and over a foot at Sugarbush! Almost makes you drool after a miserable winter for skiing so far in our parts of the world. Check out the LL packages and let me know if you find some good ones. Might take a run down to catch some of that snow and excitement on the ski hills of New England. Our conditions north of Toronto have been abominable so far...the ski operators have had to shut down some of thew biggest operations, like Blue Mountain at Collingwood. But, the Weather Man's forecasting a cold snap for up our way also, so things may be looking up (if we don't get a snowfall, at least it'll be cold enough for the machines to make some of the white stuff and cover the runs on the hills).curtiejoe

My husband & I had the best trip ever to Vermont when we stayed at the Round Barn 5 years ago...Every year we talk about going back and we just haven't had a chance. We stayed in the Sherman Room and it was fantastic.

Re: INN AT ROUNDBARN, VERMONT
Hi,
We just got back from visiting friends in the Mad River Valley, VT and our friends drove us by the Inn at the Round Barn. Set in the heart of the Mad River Valley, between Waitsfield and Warren, the Round Barn Farm bed and breakfast was charming. As we came by, the Inn was fully booked and a wedding was taking place.
Marolyn, take note, since you asked for wedding place suggestions in one of your earlier posts. The Inn at the Round Barn is an absolutely charming place, well suited for a lovely wedding, in fact, the Inn at the Round Barn Farm specializes in wedding receptions.
However, there are many other advantages to staying in this Inn. The Inn is centrally located to many Vermont attractions and activities for all four seasons. Whether it's outdoor pursuits or covered bridges this Waitsfield, Vermont area has it all! Home of summer and winter activities and sportskayaking, canoeing, skiing, equestrian, gliding, golf, arts, crafts and festivals - Vermont is sure to have something for everyone. The Mad River Valley is centrally located and home to the ski resorts of Sugarbush and Mad River Glen and less than an hour from Killington and Stowe. With gracious hospitality and outstanding views, this Inn is Pure Vermont.
