Re: MINNESOTA/MICHIGAN ESCAPE
Hi L
Amazing. My wife sometimes also wonders why I spend so much time writing on the LL Community, especially late at night. She's somewhat mollified by the fact that, as a VIP Contributor, I earned a $500 gift certificate, which I recently used towards securing an LL auction for a fabulous stay at a luxurious mountain lodge in the incredibly beautiful Canadian Rockies! We'll be heading there this September for a week's vacation in the midst of the very scenic region near the Great Divide (icefields, glaciers, river valleys, waterfalls, wild bears and deer, etc.). I'll send you a copy of Oetzi's story once it's out in print.

Re: MINNESOTA/MICHIGAN ESCAPE
Hi C,
Great that you put your $500 certificate to good use already. A mountain lodge in the Canadian Rockies sounds wonderful. We did too, we auctioned a 5 day package at the "Gruener Baum" in BadGastein, Austria. We will be hiking in the Dolomites in June, and the "Gruener Baum" at BadGastein is just over the boarder in Austria from where we will be. Should be fun.
I look forward to reading your Oetzi book once you get it published.

Hi L travelfan
The LL Gift Certificate came in handy this week as I bid on one of the Hot Auctions. Luckily I won the auction and now look forward to a magical vacation this fall in the heart of the Rocky Mountains where my wife and I will be spending four unforgettable days and nights at a luxurious mountain hideaway. We'll be in our own cozy log cabin with a crackling wood fire, a million miles away from anywhere or at least it'll seem that way as thereis no TV, telephone or Internet to disturb us as we busy ourselves with doing nothing except drinking in the spectacular mountain scenery, listening to the babble of the rushing Kicking Horse River that sweeps by the resort far below us, or looking at the enchanting sunsets from the comfort and privacy of our balcony. Can hardly wait!

Re: MINNESOTA/MICHIGAN ESCAPE
Hi L
Thanx. My wife and I have been planning a visit to the Eastern Seaboard for sometime this summer. Now we can use the $500 gift certificate against an auction for a luxury property in Delaware, Rhode Island, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, or New Jersey (there are some amazing ones that I've been tracking already. Trouble is that, until LL provides us VIP Contributors with the actual date of the up-coming VIP Reception and Dinner at The Pierre in NY City (also likely sometime this summer), we won't want to finalize our travel plans. I expect the same sort of concern faces VIPs like mary-j, who lives in Scotland and will need to book flights across the Atlantic, or perhaps you too, if you happen to be in Paris or somewhere else around the world at the time of the event.

Re: MINNESOTA/MICHIGAN ESCAPE
Hi C,
I too have been looking for a LL property around Washington or Philadelphia that we could use on our way back from Florida in early July. Having studied many of the Italian artists of the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, we would like to have a look again at the Washington National Gallery and the new Beard Museum in Philadelphia, so see if we can find some of their works in these two galleries. As to the VIP Event at the Pierre in New York, I keep hoping it will be held in September. The 2006 event in LA was held in September as the LL Newsletter stated. New York City represents a 4 hour train ride for us and we would have no problem attending the event if indeed it would be held in September. It would be fun to be able to meet some of the other VIP Contributors and LL Representatives.

Re: MINNESOTA/MICHIGAN ESCAPE
Hi L
I am hoping that the VIP event takes place sometimes earlier this summer than September. I'd be thrilled to attend the Reception in NYC, and meet you and the other VIPs,but my wife and I are already booked for our vacation tour of the ROcky Mountains in the second half of September. So, we'll have to wait and see what date LL has in mind. Like you, I believe they've aiready had to book the Pierre in advance.

HI Curtiejoe,
I own a cabin on Lake Superiors "North Shore" So I would always want to mention that area of Minnesota as a great destination...but what you describe as your wants would fit very well into a resort called Canoe Bay in Wisconsin. Very 5 star and a great chef to boot. I would also mention Bluefin Bay on Lake Superior. I can also give you specifics on lots of resorts in North Eastern Minnesota/boundary waters/ GunflintTrail area. Most of these places are a three to five hour drive north of Duluth, Mn also a great stopping off point with lots of nice places to stay for a day or two. Hope to help you out more if you have some specfic questions. Good Luck , Tracytnt. A devoted LL member

Northern Minnesota is a far greater adventure and much more scenic and beautiful than the built up Lake Geneva area. Boundry Waters canoe area close to Ely Mn has many great resorts. Burntside lodge is a classic. Around Grand Marais Mn is Gun Flint Lodge also outstanding.
If you are looking for something really special. These are the places.
