New 300 ft. Cliffwalk - Vancouver BC Canada

The Capilano Suspension Bridge has been a Vancouver BC Canada tourist attraction for a very long time. A few years ago a zipline was added. Now they have built an amazing suspended walkway. In looking at the picture below, this may be too scary for my blood! lol. LL has properties in Vancouver and there are tour companies to take you to the park if you don't have a car. Wonderful attraction to see if you visit the city.

First, you make your way through thick West Coast rainforest, past streams, giant ferns and old growth trees thousands of years old. Up ahead, the trail ends abruptly, stopping at the lip of a 300-foot-high canyon. Far below, Vancouver’s Capilano River rages. And here’s where things really get interesting. With some trepidation, you step off into the abyss, clinging gingerly to the railing of a narrow metal path suspended in midair.

Welcome to Cliffwalk, the newest eco-adventure at Vancouver’s oldest tourist attraction, the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Engineers at the park have hung a two-foot-wide pathway off the edge of the dizzying Capilano Canyon. Extending for 700 feet, the path follows the contour of the canyon walls, supported only by steel brackets screwed into the sheer face of the cliff. In some spots, a narrow glass floor is all that separates guests from the canyon bed hundreds of feet below.

Not for the faint of heart, Cliffwalk opens this June, promising visitors a unique – and exhilarating – perspective on Vancouver’s wild West Coast geography. The attraction is included with admission to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, which has been drawing thrill seekers since 1888 (Adult admission is $29.95, with discounts for seniors, students and children). The bridge itself stretches 450 feet across the canyon and is suspended a full 230 feet above the valley floor. More than 700,000 people visited last year, making Capilano one of the city’s most popular sites.

We have something similar here in Garmisch-Partenkirche, Germany, but not as grandiose, with the AlpspiX Panorma Platform View from the top AlpspiX Platform

I am going to be in Vancouver BC soon at the end of a LL package to Paradise Point in San Diego, then a repositioning cruise back up the coast. I had decided to take a big breath and try the Cliff Walk while there.....until I realized I will be there 1 week before it is open. Darn! Will have to catch it on a future trip.

We did this Leutasch Klamm walk last fall and it was quite an exciting trip.
