Re: SEATTLE'S PIKE PLACE MARKET
Curt,
The info I added are just quick links to other sites and webcams. I tried every way I could think of to see if a personal video could be posted and could not do it. It may be they don't allow it for practical reasons. Have you tried sending a message to one of the moderators regarding the issue? They should be able to help.

HiShy
Good idea!
Hadn't done that yet. Maybe they can tell us how it can be done, if such a thing as a video is OK to add to a post on LL.

Re: SEATTLE'S PIKE PLACE MARKET
The Pike Place Market in Seattle is over 100 years old. There are so many different things to do and see there that one can easily spend more than one day browsing. There is a good article on Wikipedia that gives past and present information on Pike Place Market Pike Place Market. The flower stalls there are just one example of the wonderful things you can see at the market.

At the entrance to the Market you will see a 550 pound bronze piggy bank.

This is Rachel, named by the local artist who made the pig after a real prize pig at a local fair. The money donated by tourists to Rachel is used for charitable work by the Market Foundation. In 2007 the Pike Place Market celebrated its 100th anniversary. Part of the celebration activities was the "Pigs on Parade". Using the popularity of Rachel, they had 100 local artists create 100 large pigs. They were paraded in Seattle, then auctioned off as a Market fund raiser. You can see these pigs now proudly displayed by their owners all over town. To see many of the pictures of these pigs, visit the site on flickr: Pigs on Parade

"Pigcasso" from Pigs on Parade
So if you come to Seattle, Pike Place Market is one of those "must see" sites. Easily accessible from anywhere in the City. Short free bus ride from the cruise ship terminals.

You can take the latest new tour in Seattle, called the "Coffee Crawl". It starts at Pike Place Market. I have not taken it yet, but it looks like fun.The following link will take you to the information page by the tour company hosting it. http://seattlebyfoot.com/?page_id=871Coffee, wine, flying fish, and a gum wall...........these are just some of the sites the City has to offer.Shy ~Message Edited by shygirl724 on 01-02-2010 10:43 PM
