Short Arizona visit
Heading back to Arizona in March for a short getaway. Have been there numerous times (family lives there) however, I would like any suggestions for activities, restaurants, etc. To narrow that down, on the activity side, any spa suggestions? We have done Camelback and enjoyed their facilities. Any other places to suggest? On the restaurant end, we enjoyed Thai Thai right near the Borgota. We would like a restaurant that is "different". (We are from a small town and do not have a lot of international restaurant experiences.)Any guidance would be appreciated. We might be heading to Sedona for the day also.

Definitely Sedona!! But, I liked the Oak Creek Canyon area to "stay"....out of the touristy atmosphere of Sedona. Lots of spa type opportunities there...none that I would recommend over another.

Re: Short Arizona visit
Thanks healthecircle: With all my visits to Arizona, I have never been to Sedona! My family has stayed there (Enchantment Resort). I have heard wonderful things. How far of a drive from Phoenix? I have seen the "Pink Jeep Tours", is that something that you would recommend to do? Any idea for restaurants, activities, etc. How would you think the weather would be at the end of March. Is Oak Creek Canyon far from Sedona? Thanks in advance. (PS- I believe years ago I had seen Enchantment Resort on LL. I think there is a package now up for bids. I am not too familiar with you.)

My recommendation for your Arizona visit is Sedona also. We stayed at La Auberge that is separated from the red rocks only by a charming stream. Food there is tops, and massages can be in your room. We took an easy day trip to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Psychics are on every corner, if that is your thing. The light and sky are simply fabulous there. It is a very special place. Cheers...Marolyn

Marolyn: THanks for your updates. How far is Sedona from Phoenix? Any restaurants to recommend? Any tours to do while there? (I have heard about the Pink Jeep tours. What do you think?) Also, I have heard different things about Sedona but I don't fully understand. What is/are the vortex? I have heard this phrase in relation to Sedona. Thanks.

Sedona and Phoenix are not too far apart...maybe 2 hours drive...maybe shorter time. We thoroughly enjoyed the "uniqueness" of Sedona which is not intrusive at all. While I do not have full information on the Vortexes, my understanding is that the whole area is a place of strong energy convergance. The ancient inhabitants paid special attention to the energy and healing characteristics of the area. We had a 4-wheel drive SUV and took off into the red rocks on marked trails by ourselves so I do not have any tours to recommend. The scenery, light and blue-blue sky are glorious! Enjoy! Cheers...Marolyn

Re: Short Arizona visit
Hi Marolyn. Thanks for the update. Sedona sounds lovely. I hope to get there but it looks like maybe not this trip. We leave in less than two weeks. Looks like we have tickets to a Cactus League Baseball game. I have been once before and it is a lot of fun. It seems more casual than regular baseball games. We are also going to "chill" at the Pointe at South Mountain. They have a water park with lazy river ride. This will be a great activity to reconnect with my sister in a great atmosphere. (Let's hope for sunshine and hot temperatures though!) We hope to go to Thai Thai, our favorite Thai restaurant across from the Borgota shopping area...oh yes, guess we will just HAVE TO stop and shop! Time permitting, I think we will visit the Four Seasons Resort further north. It is a beautiful property and they have a great outdoor restaurant. I also (as said in a previous post) will visit the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass and check out their puppy massage and stay program. We also plan to hike Superstition Mountain. WOW....it will be time for a vacation after this long weekend to Phoenix!
