We are off to the Hawaiian Islands and then on to Bora Bora, Morea and Papeete, Tahiti in mid-January. Unfortunately, not on LL packages, but on an Ocean Princess cruise. We added extra days in Honolulu and at the end in Papeete, but LL had nothing in either place. This is our first venture out to Hawaii and the Polynesian Islands. We are excited about it.
How exciting!!!! Have you ever been to this area? I keep looking at the LL packages. Can't wait to hear about your experience!
No, this is our first time that we are venturing that far West. Saint Lucia somehow did not seem that exciting, so we put it off for next winter and looked at Hawaii and the Polynesian Islands instead. We are really looking forward to it.
Hi Bonniejoy, what is the budget?,couple or family?,i have been to fiji more than 50 times and can advise you once i have an understanding.I have been tahiti, tonga also.
Thanks B...we are now going to South America. We will look at the South Pacific at a later date. Thanks for your help. (PS-Tonga would be interesting.....)
Hi Daniela,
I looked into a visit to the Napali Coast. The only way possible to get there seems to be via a 3 hr/1.5 hour heli tour to the tune of $270 per person. How did you get there? The pictures look spectacular.
The other tour that is available to us is a 5 hr Journey to Waimea Canyon.
Our ship docs at Port Allen, Nawiliwili, Kauai, Hawaii, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, probably not enough time to do a great many things. What would you recommend? Any suggestions?
Here are my two cents:
There are many beautiful places on Kauai but nothing comes close to the beauty of it's Napali Coast! Not to be missed, must see, call it what you would like!
While Waimea Canyon is worth a drive, I wouldn't spend my only day on Kauai exploring it. If you opt for a driving tour you eventually get to Kalalau Lookout Kalalau Lookout , which will give you an idea of the Napali Coast and what you would have seen, had you taken the boat tour.
During our trip we went on a tour with Holo Holo Charters :: Kauai, Niihau, and Napali Coast Boat & Snorkeling Tours . They were running a special at the time and offered great value for money. Had we had more money we would have opted for Kauai Sailing Adventures and their amazing vessel, the Southern Star, https://www.napali.com/southern-star/ that is more appropriate for discerning Luxury Link travelers.
Both options depart from Port Allen and would work with your docking schedule. The Southern Star (which I believe is the much better choice) would cost $337 for two.
As far as the helicopter goes, though I'm sure it would be worth it, it was too expensive for us and didn't allow enough time to take in the views.
If I still haven't convinced you, check these pictures out: http://www.lovethesepics.com/2012/03...r-adventurers/
Your visit to Napali will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime! Don't miss out!
Depending on the season, keep your eyes open for whales, dolphins and sea turtles.
Make sure you protect your camera from the salty mist.
