Taking advantage of the World Tourism Day on September 27th, Tahiti has turned this tribute to tourists from all over the world into a multi-day celebration, held annually since 1980, on all of the islands traditionally visited by tourists. The employees of travel agencies, airlines, hotels, restaurants, the Tourist Office, post offices, banks, stores and ground transportation companies, plus taxe drivers and drivers of Tahitis famous le Truck , dress up for this occasion by wearing a variety of colorful Polynesian clothes, complete with head crowns an a flower behind the ear. Many of the offices and other facilities are colorfully decorated for the occasion with flowers and plants. The Papeete Public Marketplace is decorated with ferns and flowers, while the mams who work at the arts and crafts stands stage a daily, day-long festival of singing, dancing and entertaining. On World Tourism Day itself, all tourists are offered special shopping bargains and reduced entry prices at various museums.



This special celebration is designed to make tourists feel extra special while sampling traditional foods, enjoying handcraft demonstrations and viewing sport competitions held in Tahiti. For more information. go to http://www.tahiti-tours.com

OMG! for better tourism attractions and opportunities, i always keep busy in searching like those, but i missed that "World Tourism Day" saga at Tahiti. But Tahiti is still very attractive for. Hey Tahiti! I am coming! specially i like Tahiti's traditional foods, handcrafts and sport competitions. I am feeling a bit thrill inside, i hope i can find some terrifying spots like Jack the Ripper Tours as i am enjoying here in my UK tour.

We went to Tahiti last year and one of the best things you can do is get out of the resort and see the island.

Hi E....did you stay in a hotel or rent a property? What do you know of villa rentals on the island? How expensive was the food/drink? Did you fly from the US? Thanks for any tips.

Air Tahiti Nui handles most of the region's air service, even tho there are some mainline carriers connecting from Korea, Japan, Oz etc to Papeete

For Beqa (Fiji) , we're looking at Air Pacific from LAX. FAres are about $1300 right now

From my research, the highest prices are French Polynesia, then Fiji...best thing about that LL pkg for Beqa Lagoon is food is inclusive. Drinks and wine are $$ everywhere--bring that duty free for the room!
I doubt that anyplace in the So. Pac an be more $ than Scandinavia!!

I think Beqa looks like a great option....any plans when you plan to go?

Boss has already booked his vacation dates thru Feb but gets to select (as in bidding based on seniority) another 5 wks--in any increment he wants, 1 or up to 5 off. I actually make the choices of dates since I know the travel seasons better than he does! He flies planes, I plan flights!! I just have to see what's available.

We are a group of five planning to go TAHITI in next sep 2013. We live in East London and have special feeling towards attractions like jack the ripper murder locations etc. Are there some cool locations like I mentioned above in TAHITI as well?
