We've just returned from our 4th trip to Toberua Island....and are ready to go again (actually we didn't want to leave.) The warmth of the staff and the beauty of the sea are indescribable. It's difficult to use enough superlative adjectives so I just say go.....and plan to stay at least a week (or ten days!)....

Re: Toberua Island, Fiji
Hi J-
Thanks for posting about your trips. I've always been curious about Fiji. Hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions.
- I've heard that sea snakes are an issue in some beach areas in Fiji. Have you heard or seen this?
- Is Toberua island offered on LuxuryLink?
- What kind of accomodation do they have? Many of the Fiji places I've seen look lovely, but rustic.
Thanks

Bula.....there are sea snakes in the waters (and on the land) in Fiji....but unless you put your finger down its throat they are not poisonous (or so the staff on Toberua told my husband. If you send my your email address I'll send you some photos of a sea snake and our most recent trip (my fourth) to Toberua. Yes, it's on luxurylink. I just bid on and won two 5-night packages so will have them back to back. The air fare from Honolulu is almost more than the five night package at the resort. We can't wait to go back. Again, if you want to see some of my pictures....send me your email address. You can send it to my yahoo address: [email protected]. I'll be send them from a different email.
Toberua is not rustic (at least not in my opinion.) There is no air-conditioning...a fact I love. No tv, radio. Just wonderful staff who you can't help loving. 14 bures on the small island...restaurant area, bar, small salt-water swimming pool but you're surrounded by pristine ocean.....
I've done many trips through luxury link, e.g., Vietnam (4 times), Maldives, French Polynesia, Madrid, and Toberua (3 times.) I've never been disappointed...ooops....I thought the Urban Hotel in Madrid was way too modern for my expectation of Spain...but the service was outstanding.
Aloha....
