It does matter somewhat in the sense that the number of bidders did serve as a research tool. It tells you how many people were interested in the property, enough to bid. It also tells you what the initial price of the auction was, as the increments go up per $25 a bid. I used these numbers as a research tool doing "my homework" before bidding. However, as eyebright said "I wondered exactly the same thing. Though I'd rather have them back even without this info!" Something here is better than nothing... so I appreciated having the Past Auction results back, even so they are not back in its entirety...

At least you already expect the mystery auction to be in $1 increments by your reasoning that no one should bid any other way, so it should be easy to calculate those, based on the differential. Have you ever seen a pattern for auction bidding from your research that you want to share with the community? Is $25 the typical increment? or do people actually bid in larger or smaller amounts, as warranted by their desire to buy a certain package?
I find it fascinating that the same auction can appear a few hours after the last one ended and maybe no one bids on it for several days and it gets repeated in the next cycle. Into what bidding category would that fall? Null? It wouldn't even show up in the auction results, would it? hmmmmm
We can confound ourselves with details that matter not. (wonder who said that?)"wherever you go, there you are"

I was not talking about Mystery Auctions. In the present "Past Auction Results" listing, Mystery Auctions are not even listed as such. I am talking about the regular auctions.
Let's say a property is offered for $500. If I miss the auction at the initial $500 offering price because one or 3 or 5 people bid up in $25 increments ($25 increments is the automatic increment used in regular auctions, I don't think you can bid more than $25 at a time, not on regular auctions - on Mystery Auctions, yes), I watch the property for the next time it comes around. If I miss it again, I wait for the next time if I have enough time ahead, until I catch it at the lowest price. Knowing how many people bid on a property by looking at the Past Auction Results gives you a quick look at the interest in this property and without doing the math, especially, if you haven't tracked the property previously.
We all have our own ways of doing our "homework" before we bid on auctions. However, I would not quite say that "We confound ourselves with details that matter not", unless you want to be rude....Our purpose here is to share information and not to belittle each other....
Knowing how many people bid on a property is relevant and was helpful, in my opinion.
PS: In case you wonder, your quote is not entirely correct. It comes from
Matthew Henry, Thomas Scott, William Jenks - 1836 - Religion
"We confound ourselves with endless absurdities, when we measure our ideas of the world ... "

Not sure what you think you are "quoting"--that statement was made and written by me.
'We can confound ourselves with details that matter not." 2011, February 25.
I guess you could compare the prices (past and current if they are similar timing). With the differential, take the increments and estimate how many bids were made.Last edited by kyshel; 02-26-2011 at 04:41 AM. Reason: added an idea

Well, you asked (not sure who wrote that?) so I looked it up and this is the closest quote there is
The Comprehensive Commentary on the Holy Bible: Matt.-John - Google Books Result
Matthew Henry, Thomas Scott, William Jenks - 1836 - Religion
We confound ourselves with endless absurdities, when we measure our ideas of the world ... Upon the whole matter. He concludes, Ye therefore do greatly err. ...

As to your second remarque, that is exactly what I tried to explain. You can arrive at the offering price if you do the math.

I've noticed a new change / improvement to the Past Auctions menu. In the past you could view the past purchased auctions for the previous 3 days. This AM I noticed that you can now view results for the past week. Very nice LL upgrade.

Another nice LL change to the Past Auction page. I had not looked at it for a time, so I am not sure when this change was made. I was viewing it today and found that it is not just the list of purchased packages and the amount, with the property name linking to any current auction. Now the actual details of the purchased auction are visible on the page - great idea!
