Only 5 Stars ?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 21 hours ago

First things first.. We are not in any way employed or in any manor reimbursed by Casa Velas for our reviews. We just returned from almost two weeks ( 3rd visit in less than 2 years ! ) and only wish we still were in our 2nd home with our good friends and family that comprises of the entire staff. Casa Velas is true oasis or retreat from ones everyday life and provides any and everything that one could wish for to make your stay a very special and memorable holiday. My wife and I are fortunate in our ability to travel quite extensively for several months each year, but each stay here is 5 stars +.. The grounds are beautiful and the staff works hard to maintain such beauty consistently. We book a Master Plus Suite each time and the roominess and comfort is perfect for anyone who demands the best .. Food whether at the restaurant or over at Club Tau is beautifully presented using only the freshest of ingredients and served by the most friendly and professional staff. Whether you lounge at poolside or over at Club Tau, you will be pampered and spoiled by the staff.. Casa Velas is a true 2nd home for us and we already our looking at the calendar to book our next 'family reunion' ! I just have to say 'Muchas Gracias to the best staff that one can find anywhere and I mean anywhere..They all deserve our most sincere appreciation .... Miguel Dorado- ( GM ) for always being concerned for our comfort and enjoyment and with his warm smile. Sofia -looking out for us and assisting in any way to enhance our stay and again with a smile.. The restaurant staff- Jesus,Alfredo,Rudolfo,Alvalos,Oswaldo,Daniel,Fatima and I know I left out someone for their true warmth and efficiency each morning for breakfast and each evening at dinner. The entire staff at Club Tao-made our days and evenings always very special. Ulises,Ramon and Juan at the pool for their so friendly personalities and service that can only be described as perfect ! A final appreciative nod to the General Manager-Enrique Sinencio who is a very unique and professional asset overseeing the entire operations at Casa Velas.. He is consistently inquiring about our stay and making certain that everyone on the staff is making sure that every need of a guest is fulfilled and the Velas organization is quite fortunate to have such a professional and sincere individual employed. So,what else could I write except Bravo and will be home soon !! Kitty and Dennis

Excellent hospitality and a BEAUTIFUL property!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Gorgeous property, luxurious rooms, and incredible hospitality! We felt spoiled and completely relaxed the entire time. The staff is so friendly and attentive. Our meals were delicious and made even more enjoyed by our servers. Alvos, our server at breakfast was not only engaging and professional, but he was kind enough to teach us some Spanish and we loved it!! He was so friendly and had a good sense of humor. We all looked forward to seeing him at breakfasts. Thank you sir. We had a beautiful sunset dinner at the property's beach club, the food and setting was absolutely stunning. Again, the most excellent service and Brenda was absolutely delightful in her service and kindness. Every meal at the resort was beautifully prepared and delicious. We can not say enough good things about the service. 5 stars all the way. The rooms are very clean and beautiful just like the entire property. We loved the beds, they were very comfortable and the bath products were L'Occitane which I enjoyed. They provided everything you would need, toothbrush, shaving kit, hair dryer, etc...We are not golfers but did enjoy the grand swimming pool with the wonderful swim up bar. The serano margarita is now a favorite for us. It was very relaxing. We do enjoy an adult resort. The gardenscaping and architecture is vibrant with colorful flowers and tropical well manicured plants and trees. It is lovely! This resort provides everything you need and the staff is attentive and friendly. They made us feel so welcome. Also, they have transportation to the other property if you would like to enjoy that too. It is more of a family place and louder than Casa Velas. We went there for their fiesta night dinner and felt like we were on a cruise ship. We regretted not experiencing the fine dining at Casa Velas in lieu of the fiesta buffet. However the entertainment at the fiesta was wonderful, the mariachi band was very talented. We enjoyed watching them perform. Their Beach Club at Tau is very luxurious, we loved spending the afternoon there and it was everything we would expect from a beach club, tented sun beds lined up on the beach, excellent beach service, towels, water bottles, and the ocean water was warm. We will be back to this resort and very much recommend it!! Thank you Casa Velas!!

Amazing anniversary vacation!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We came here for our 1st anniversary, after getting married here last year! It is the most beautiful place on earth that we have ever been! The food and drinks are amazing, but the service is even better! At the pool side bar, Ulises, Ramon, and Juan are sooo accomodating. They make sure you always have what you need and do it with a smile on their face. At Emilianos, Avalos will bring joy to your morning cup of coffee with his exuberant personality! Rodolfo, Daniel, and Miguel took great care of us during all of our dinners too! The beach club is very relaxing and has a different food menu from Casa Velas. Everything we ate was very good! We can't wait to make this beautiful destination an annual vacation!

A Mixed Experience at Casa Velas

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Our recent stay at Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta left us with mixed feelings. While there were some positive aspects, we couldn’t help but notice the decline in quality and service since the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the pandemic, this hotel had a certain charm that made it stand out. The lush grounds were home to tame peacocks that roamed freely, adding a touch of whimsy. The staff was attentive, and the overall experience felt special. However, things have changed. Post-COVID Changes: 1. Missing Peacocks: Sadly, the peacocks are no longer a part of the landscape. Their absence was noticeable, especially for returning guests who remembered their graceful presence. 2. Priority for Large Groups: The hotel now prioritizes large groups, such as business retreats and wedding parties. While this may be good for their bottom line, it negatively impacts individual guests. During our stay, a business retreat and a wedding party took over the property for several days. 3. Limited Dining Options: The hotel has only two restaurants, which became a problem during the wedding party. There was no availability for dinner at either restaurant, leaving us hungry and frustrated. 4. Offsite Dining Solution: To address the restaurant issue, the hotel offered to arrange a pre-paid taxi to take us to one of their sister resorts for dinner, in this case being Grand Velas. The commute from Casa Velas to Grand Velas is about 30+ minutes depending on traffic conditions. It seemed like a reasonable solution until we were denied access to the restaurant for not meeting the dress code of closed-toed shoes. The interesting part of this is that we stayed at Grand Velas for a week 6 months prior and the hotel didn’t seem to have an issue with the closed-toed shoes (picture attached for reference). Apparently, the American definition and Mexican definition of closed-toed shoes is not the same. In addition, Gran Velas doesn’t seem to care about screaming kids running around the restaurant or watching movies on their iPad at full volume. My overall suspicion is that the Grand Velas does not want you to dine in the restaurants if you are not a current guest at the hotel because they lose money. In the end, we wasted approximately 1.5 hours going back-and-forth between the resorts. Food Quality Decline: Unfortunately, the decline in quality extended to the food as well. The meals were lackluster, and my wife experienced illness for at least two days, which may or may not have been food related. This was a major disappointment, especially given the high price we paid for our stay. To be honest, the food we received on the business class flight on the way home was better than some of meals at the resort. Questionable Tipping Practices: Adding to our concerns, the resort’s tipping practices left us puzzled. Despite our generous tipping habits (coming from a tourist-oriented state), we felt that our tips added no value or incentive to our stay. The resort prominently displayed large tip jars around the bars, encouraging guests to tip more, yet resulted in the same level of service when tipped or not tipped. Inclusive Yet Not So Inclusive: Furthermore, the resort’s attempt to elicit additional tip money through the itemized bills after each meal was disconcerting. Even though the resort is considered all-inclusive, the line item for writing in a tip felt like a cheap ploy to extract more money from guests. Conclusion: In the end, we would rate the stay at Casa Velas a 3 primarily because the staff remained great despite the other shortcomings. If you’re considering a stay in Puerto Vallarta, explore other options – there are nicer hotels available at similar price points, especially in the Caribbean area.

Another wonderful holiday at Casa Velas!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Casa Velas is an absolute gem of a resort as we discovered during our first stay in March 2023, and confirmed to us again when we returned in March this year. You can believe the many 5-star reviews guests leave because absolutely everything about this resort is maintained to a very high standard. It is clear from the minute you arrive that everyone, from the very caring Front Desk and Concierge who assisted us several times, Dining Room (delicious meals and wonderful service), Pool Bar, Housekeeping (our room was kept sparkling), Grounds staff (always meticulously maintaining the lush landscape, trees and flowers) to the Beach Club, work very, very hard to make your vacation experience exceptional! Casa Velas is situated slightly inland, with access to a beautiful sandy beach from the resort’s Tau Beach Club, a short shuttle ride away provided to its guests. Most days we chose to walk to the Club through the local neighborhood - it’s an interesting walk, about 10-15 minutes. And again, the food and service at the Club were terrific. The heart of Puerto Vallarta is just a short taxi ride away from the resort, and whether you take one of the many tours offered online (a great way to meet fellow travelers), or just want to do some exploring on your own, there is so much to see. It is a vibrant and bustling city! Other interesting excursion options can be found online. And if you want to venture further outside of the city a daytrip to the beach town of Sayulita which we took with a guide on our first trip in 2023 is highly recommended. Bravo and many thanks to everyone at Casa Velas! We loved staying with you, and hope to see you again in the very near future! Cheers, The James Family, Toronto

We just returned form a week of pampering at Casa Velas. The room was fabulous, the food was excellent, and the service staff incredible. The beach club was very private and well maintained. If you are looking for an adults-only place to unwind and be taken care of, this is it. We'll be back.

I just wanted let Luxury Link know what a marvelous time my wife and I had at Casa Velas. It is truly a 5-star resort and I will be writing very positive reviews on our experience there!

We stayed at this resort in January and Casa Velas is truly luxurious. We had a suite overlooking the golf course with a private Jacuzzi on the balcony. The staff is friendly and helpful, the restaurants are gourmet and the beach is close. We highly recommend Casa Velas Boutique Hotel as a quiet getaway just minutes from the the airport and downtown.
