Wonderful Honeymoon
We stayed at Hermitage Bay last year on our honeymoon, and the resort exceeded our expectations tremendously. The staff was plentiful in comparison to the maximum number of guests, and they were very friendly and helpful. The resort felt very private, quiet, and luxurious. Also, the food was WONDERFUL, and they had different menu items to choose from every day.

Anonymous· 5 years agoWe found the hotel to be one of the best we have ever encountered. It's peaceful, it's well run, staff go out of their way to be helpful/friendly but not in a way that you think it's a burden.

★★★★★ ★★★★★ Overall rating value is 5 of 5 stars.· 12 days agoAmazing Place
This place was amazing from start to finish - it was everything we had wanted for this vacation: privacy, seclusion, service, relaxation, coziness. We were there for 10 days, which was the prefect amount of time to fully disconnect. The rooms are beautiful, all private cabanas, extremely spacious with gorgeous wood flooring, complete with an outdoor shower. If you can, splurge on a hillside pool suite and request a high up room - it's completely worth it to have your private pool and the view is breathtaking. As mentioned, the rooms are really spacious and totally designed for actually hanging out. They have extra large porches that overlook the ocean with many different seating and lounging areas, so depending on your mood and the angle of the sun, you can just hang out with a cocktail and a book and choose to tan or not. And then just take a dip when it gets too hot!
The big thing for us was that we did not want to be among big crowds and too many people. If that's your case too, then this is the place for you: there are only 25 rooms in the resort so even at its fullest, it still feels pretty remote. The service here was outstanding. The entire staff is super friendly and they really bend over backward to make you feel comfortable and cater to your needs and mostly - i never saw anyone in a bad mood. You learn their names, you get to know them, they become almost like friends. But everyone is efficient! Which is not always the case in the islands... i've been to places where the staff is lazy or rude. This place is the polar opposite.
This is the place to go to relax and be romantic. We were there for our anniversary and most couples were on their honeymoon. But if you're really itching to do stuff, there are plenty of options - you can choose to go shopping in St.John's, you can do a boat tour of the different shores, you can go snorkeling... the beach is not one of those endless white sand beaches, but it is private and has the most aqua blue color water i've ever seen. And because it's private and the small size of the resort, it's the polar opposite of those obnoxious over-crowded beaches. Truly blissful.
The food was quite frankly excellent. Definitely the best from an all-inclusive that i've ever been to, by leaps and bounds. It wasn't super refined and chichi, which is not what you would want on vacation anyway. It just felt authentic and fresh, and it was delicious. The menu changes daily, which is super refreshing and really makes you see that they offer whatever is fresh. I really took advantage of all the fresh fish and seafood while i was there - it would have been a travesty not to! Everything was so fresh and tasty. As for the bar, we discovered the local beer called Wadadli and never looked back! Their cocktail selection is quite large, but they'll pretty much make you whatever your heart desires. Served with a smile, always. And those amazing plantain chips. Seriously can't say enough good things about Hermitage Bay. I would go back in a heart beat.

Saint John, Antigua and BarbudaIf you have ever imagined your own Caribbean hideaway, you will swoon upon arrival at Hermitage Bay. Hidden away on a stunning bay on the west coast of Antigua, this singular resort boasts just 25 individual Cottage Suites, blended into the natural landscape. Your sublime retreat might reside on the beach just steps from the water, or it may be tucked into the hillside with its own plunge pool. A casually elegant beachfront restaurant focuses on locally sourced ingredients, and a discreet, attentive staff tends to your every need.
On this pretty little corner of the island, you are just half an hour from the capital of St. John's, home to an inviting Saturday market and Nelson's Dockyard National Park, with its archaeology sites, nature trails and restored Georgian naval dockyard. You can learn about the history of the Caribbean islands at Dow's Hill Interpretation Center - or for an unforgettable day trip, take a helicopter to visit the volcano observatory at neighboring Montserrat.
