Corcovado National Park is located in the remote pacific coast region known as the Osa Penninsula, which extends inland from the Pacific Ocean about 8 km eastward. Rugged uplands, are common throughout with eroded narrow ridges and long steep slopes and dense drainage networks. The park protects a wide variety of threatened plant and animal species, and is known to have about 124 species of mammals, including more than four monkey species and 50 bat, nearly 400 species of birds, more than 100 species of reptiles and amphibians.

A long stretch of sandy beach extends for 20 km, with cliffs and pockets at the northern and southern park headland, and a marine cave near the southern point.
Entrance to Corcovado National Park is allowed via ranger stations located at San Pedrillo in the northwest, La Leona in the southeast, and Los Patos in the northeast. Camping and modest accommodations are available around the park headquarters and research center in Sirena, on the Pacific shore. read more about Corcovado National Park
