If you're coming to Oahu, at least once during your visit, you must make your way to Waikiki. Take off your shoes and wiggle your toes in the warm, golden sand. The two-mile stretch of beach along Kalakaua Avenue is home to some iconic hotels and monuments such as the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Duke Kahanamoku statue, and the ghostly Nattatorium War Memorial. If you're feeling particularly daring, ask a beach boy for a surf lesson at Queen's or Canoes. As the sun sets, make your way to Duke's Restaurant and Barefoot Bar for a cocktail and to watch the longboarders catch peaceful rides to shore.
