Good but not amazing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We stayed here for 5 days last month at the end of a 3 week trip. Overall the resort is nice but not much more than that. The restaurant staff and the bar man deserve a special mention-they are always smiling and willing to assist. The food in both restaurants was consistently very good. The resort itself, as mentioned by previous reviewers, could do with being shown some love. The boardwalk around the ponds definitely need to be tended to as they are not nailed down properly and in some areas the planks appear rotten. This became an area to avoid. The swimming pool which is a real centrepiece needs some attention in terms of cleaning around the grout-even a wipe of your finger along the grout as you swim around has the green coming off. Unfortunately, we agreed to upgrading our booked accommodation as “our room was not ready when we arrived”. We upgraded to a pool villa which was really a total waste of money. As soon as we settled into the room we realised the pool was dirty/green. To be fair we were then moved to another pool villa but there was nothing special about the room other than gaining an extra sitting area. The pool was freezing, was constantly having leaves and debris in and the sun loungers had seen better days. They did come and clean the pool for the first 2 days and then after that I am not entirely certain. As we settled into the hotel, it became clear that the occupancy at this time was very low. This left sour taste in my mouth, as I am not convinced “our room wasn’t ready” when we checked in. I feel we were pushed into being upsold and I don’t appreciate that. The main other point to note is that the resort is a good 10 min drive from Hua Hin and the complementary shuttle only runs 3 times a day. You can be dropped at 11am then not again until 5pm but the first pick up back from the town is not until 5.15pm. Overall, it was an alright stay. The food and beverage staff were definitely an asset and the food delicious but as for the rest of the resort, at this price point, I felt a bit let down which was disappointing at the end of our holiday.

Our highlight in Hua Hin

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Our stay at Mövenpick Asara Resort & Spa Hua Hin was absolute perfection from start to finish. We were upgraded to a private pool villa, which is absolutely stunning, incredibly spacious, and offer a level of privacy that is hard to find. One of the major highlights was the famous Chocolate Hour—a daily treat. The dining options were equally impressive, with a breakfast spread that offered everything from local Thai delicacies to perfect European pastries. What truly sets this resort apart, however, is the staff. Every team member we encountered was attentive, kind, and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. If you are looking for a peaceful, high-end retreat in Hua Hin with top-tier amenities and a heart of gold, look no further.

Perfect holiday

Perfect location on the beach with a calm relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff with great service. We could not fault the food and it was difficult to choose what not to have. All and all a lovely experience. We will be back 🌸💕

Not so Luxury Escapes.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Mövenpick Hua Hin I want to start by saying the staff were genuinely lovely — friendly, attentive, and doing their best in what feels like a very tired property. We booked the Luxury Escapes half-board package, which included two meals daily, unlimited beer and cocktails from midday, and four spa treatments. Unfortunately, while the inclusions sounded fantastic on paper, the hotel itself is in desperate need of renovation and the location leaves a lot to be desired. Pros: • Joey (Customer Service Manager), Wee (F&B Manager), and Gib from the restaurant team were the main reasons we didn’t cancel our booking and move elsewhere. Their service and care were exceptional. • The main pool is excellent, with multiple depth levels and beautiful ocean views. • The food in the main restaurant was genuinely delicious, with both Thai and Western dishes of a very high standard. • The spa treatments included in our package were fantastic. The therapists were professional, friendly, and the massages were excellent. Cons: • The hotel had no local maps or information about the area, which felt like a basic hospitality oversight. • Our private pool villa was not properly cleaned upon arrival. The plunge pool was green, the floors were dirty, and the shower still had visible grime and soap scum. The room needs a proper deep clean and refurbishment. • The pool pump was incredibly loud and vibrated through the bedroom day and night. We repeatedly had to ask staff to turn it off just so we could sleep or rest. This alone should have warranted moving us to another room — completely unacceptable for a luxury resort. • Strangely, our pool villa didn’t come with pool towels. • There is no TV in the bedroom, only in the living area with an awkward and uncomfortable satin couch. • The pool towels at the main pool are completely worn out and threadbare — I literally put my hand through two of them. • The wooden boardwalks around the ponds felt unsafe, uneven, and rotting in places. They moved underfoot and we avoided using them after the first walk. • There is stagnant water throughout the property, making mosquitoes a major issue. We had to specifically request the room be sprayed, whereas many comparable resorts proactively manage this as part of evening turndown service. • The hotel is approximately 10–15 minutes from Hua Hin town, meaning taxis are required for almost everything. There is very little nearby. • The resort is also located beside the airport and Thai airbase, so planes frequently fly overhead throughout the day. We also spoke with the General Manager, Paul, on our final day. While he arranged a single bottle of wine for 4 people at dinner, there was little meaningful follow-up regarding the ongoing issues. Another couple we met had no hot water for five days, and despite repeated complaints, nothing was properly resolved. Unfortunately, there didn’t seem to be much urgency to address guest concerns. Would I stay here again or recommend it to others? No. The staff are wonderful and doing everything they can, but the property itself is too dated, poorly maintained, and too far from town to justify the price point or “luxury” positioning.

A nice winter break

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The Mövenpick is a resort with the difference being with the layout and garden environment one of its highlights. We travelled with luxury escape travel in a package deal I would say was of value our only concern was the room although very presentable the location of the room at the far end rear of property, room 222 had road noise but it was ok overall, menu selection with escape was what they call half board limited range of menu if you are only staying for 5-7 days then it’s ok, the full board menu looked very impressive and of comparable value to other hotels, longer stays you may wish to eat out Hua Hin has some respectable restaurants, don’t get me wrong the food was good and well presented. Overall Mövenpick was a very relaxing place to visit with very attentive staff with welcoming smiles.
