Reviews for InterContinental Hua Hin Resort

Outstanding Club lounge staff led by May

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The club lounge team led by May, were exceptional. Professional, friendly, helpful, flexible and accommodating. The lounge is lovely. Small intimate and special. We did not make it to afternoon tea during our 7 nights but the breakfast was very good and the variety of hot and cold canapés was great with awesome flavours We had a private pool Suite and loved both. Cartoon at the swim up bar in the main pool was also great. This hotel has a talent for finding the right people and providing top level training in all aspects of their roles Thank you May, Khing, Jan but especially May

Wonderful always

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

It has been great experience here as always. All the staffs were really friendly and kind. Special thanks to Khun Jojo and reception staffs who accommodated us promptly with the new room when there was an unexpected construction noise from neighbour hotel. Also I would like to give a big compliment to Khun Joe and Pirom staffs for wonderful breakfast with wide range of food selections and services.

A lovely hotel with lovely staff to which I will likely never return

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

The best parts of this hotel are the lovely staff and the Club Lounge. The Club Lounge offers the best evening canapés I have had in an InterContinental Club Lounge in quite some time. Very nice wine and cocktails. It is a very quiet space and did not seem to have much use during our stay. Perhaps due to slow season. It is a small space with an extended outdoor space so I suspect it can get quite busy. The staff there were absolutely wonderful. The primary reason I would not return is room location. This particular hotel has two wings on opposite sides of the main street. The Ocean Wing contains all restaurants, services and the Club Lounge. The Bluport Wing is attached to the Bluport Mall (a dying mall with lots of vacant spaces) on the opposite side of the street. They love to emphasize that they are connected by a pedestrian bridge over the road. But there is a flight of stairs to access the bridge for those mobility impaired, and the distance through the Bluport Wing, down the elevator, up the stairs, across the road, down the hall, and down another elevator became an annoying ritual every time we needed anything as there is only a small single-manned desk in the Bluport Wing. It appears the Bluport Wing once had a restaurant and lounge but both of those appear to be permanently closed as the names have been removed from directional signage and they are not mentioned on the website. Overall, it feels like we stayed at a shopping mall and not at a beach. It certainly felt like we were not part of the InterContinental across the street. The reason we were in that wing? We are IHG One Rewards Diamond Ambassadors who chose to redeem points for a stay. This hotel has a policy of putting all point redemption rooms (as well as all pet stays) in the Bluport Wing. The pungent smell of dog pee in the carpeting of one of the elevators for our final two days reminded us each trip of the pet friendly policy. The hotel did upgrade us from a regular room to a Studio room with a sitting area which was nice, but could not overcome the poor location. The room itself was attractive, if a bit dated. There are no USB plugs anywhere in the room. Usually older hotels make up for this with them on the bedside clock, but none there either. We struggled for plugs for our electronics. There were some floor plugs under the desk, but only one seemed to be in working order. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable as one would expect from an InterContinental. But overall, as we walked the long trek constantly, we sure did not feel very special for our loyalty. A cash upgrade to a non-sea view room was offered before arrival, and my two thoughts were: I'm redeeming my points for a FREE stay, why would I want to use cash and particularly why upgrade to something that is non sea view and non suite anyway? On the final day I looked at the room and even though no view they were indeed MUCH nicer rooms. In my opinion, the hotel should review the policy of putting the most brand loyal guests into "the dog wing". During our stay we had cocktails at Cocco (excellent drinks and excellent service), dinner at Azure (food was a bit salty but good and again excellent service) and a dinner at Pirom on our first night. The dinner at Pirom was not particularly good. We each ordered an appetizer and an entree. One app arrived first. Then my app arrived with their main course. Then there was a LONG wait for my main course while the other person was completely finished eating. Once it arrived (Thai food) it was nearly inedible. I'm not sure how that happens to Cashew Nut Chicken, but it was indeed the worst I have had in 24 years in this country. The meal at Pirom caused us to shuffle up our dining bookings and plan to eat less at the hotel. After the really good canapés at the Club Lounge, we decided to proceed with Azure but skipped Jaras. So in summary, if you are not redeeming points, make sure you choose the Ocean Wing for a much better experience. Since we do a lot of point redemptions throughout Asia, we will not likely be returning based on the hotel policy of only placing point redemption rooms in the Bluport Wing.

Great family stay with gluten free food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We had again an excellent stay at the IC HUA HIN Resort . Thanks to Mr. Horn and his team, especially May from the lounge with didn’t have any food issues at all with our daughter who has celiac. She got nearly everything we got as gluten free option . The hotel was completely renovated since our last stay and even added a miniature train running around the hotel . Since beginning of the year the hotel offers a great variety of resort activities for all age groups , well organised and a lot of fun. The restaurants serve great food of all kind . Highly recommend
