About the Hotel

On an Island in the Adriatic Sea, amidst medieval towns and ancient cobbled streets, find a resort that looks as if its stepped directly out of the pages of a modern architectural digest. Overlooking the cerulean blue sea, with fantastic terraced gardens and a cascading waterfall filled pool, Amfora, Hvar Grand Beach Resort is the new jewel of Croatia's ancient resort Island of Hvar. Enjoy sun and surf from the private beach, rejuvenating body treatments at the Sesori O center and Secori C Spa at the iconic 1930s Bonj Les Bains beach club, and dine under billowing white tents on a teak deck as the sunsets. Romantic, luxurious, and chic beyond all reason, Amfora makes it is easy to see why Condé Nast Traveler rated Hvar as one of the ten most beautiful islands in the world.

Great Pool and Great View

Brought the family to Hvar. Turned out beach was rocky and uncomfortable for the kids to play on but pool was great. Along with it was great pool service. Shout to Oliver

Disappointing stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Unfortunately, the front desk staff were not particularly friendly and often seemed unapproachable. However, I would like to give special recognition to the porters, who were outstanding throughout our stay. They were incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional, and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The room itself was clean, although there was a noticeable red wine stain on the balcony. The air conditioning was also disappointing, as it could not be set below 19°C, meaning the room never felt properly cool. It was also frustrating that the balcony door had to remain fully closed for the air conditioning to work. If the door closed behind you while you were on the balcony, you could easily find yourself locked out. A useful tip for future guests: check the TV for the welcome pack. We only discovered later that the water and soft drinks provided were complimentary. My sister got married at the beach club next to the hotel, and many wedding guests stayed here. When the bride and groom checked in, there was no welcome surprise, room upgrade, or even a simple acknowledgement of their special occasion, despite bringing around 50 guests to the hotel. They were understandably disappointed by this lack of recognition. The morning after the wedding, a member of staff entered our room without warning and woke us up, explaining there was a leak in the room below. They left briefly, then returned to carry out repairs. The maintenance work lasted approximately an hour, which was quite inconvenient as I was unable to get ready for breakfast during that time. On a positive note, the breakfast was excellent, with a huge variety of options available to suit all tastes. However, the omelette station could benefit from additional staff. The chef preparing the omelettes worked hard but was quite slow, which meant queues formed very quickly and waiting times became quite long. While there were some positives, particularly the excellent service from the porters and the fantastic breakfast selection, there were several issues that affected our overall experience.

Gem on the Adriatic

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We stayed two nights as part of a cycling trip. The Amfora is a gem on Adriatic in Hvar town. The rooms are newly renovated and comfortable. The staff is courteous and more than willing to help with anything you could want. The breakfast buffet is unlike anything I’ve experienced anywhere else in Europe cannot wait to return

Not the best

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Good location with lovely views. Staff all helpful but a succession of issues made it a below average experience. We had a studio room for 3. We had to ask for the 3rd bed to be made up, we had to ask for another towel (only 2) & rattling air conditioning; all sorted quickly but issues nonetheless. Air conditioning controls didn’t work. Cold food in restaurant which had to be sent back and clearly just came back re-heated. Out of date orange juice given to our son.

Amfora Hotel

Cracking hotel, beautiful view, great service, breakfast variety most excellent, service first class. Friendly, clean and efficient. My only gripe is their pricing strategy...they are way too high. Fortunately Hvar town is only half a mile down a seaside walkway. Well worth the walk.
