We spent 4 wonderfully relaxing days at Beloved Playa Mujeres at the end of May. It was our first time staying at the resort. Beloved is a small, quiet, elegant couples-only beachfront resort located north of Cancun in the gated resort/ residential area of Playa Mujeres. There are several resorts in the area, but Beloved is the only boutique-sized resort that caters to couples only. We loved it for that reason; there were no crowds, no foam parties, and no loud, fall-down drunk guests. Most couples there were either on their honeymoon, celebrating an anniversary or birthday, or just enjoying the relaxed, quiet atmosphere of the resort and each other's company. The resort offered us free transportation to and from the airport from Seasons Transportation, which we gladly accepted. We let them know that we were not actually arriving from the airport, but from another hotel in Cancun where we spent the first week of our trip, and they said that was not a problem. They picked us up at checkout from our first hotel and brought us to Beloved, and at the end of our stay they brought us from Beloved to the airport. Everything went seamlessly with the transport on both ends. When we arrived at Beloved, Christian brought us inside and told us we were about to be spoiled, and he was right! He made us a welcome drink: smoked rosemary infused Champagne glasses with a delicious cocktail of Mezcal and pureed berries. It was fantastic! Mex then arrived to bring us and our luggage up to our room. Mex showed us everything in our suite and made sure we understood the modernized light controls. There was a chilled bottle of Champagne and a tray of whole fruits waiting for us in our living room. We stayed in an ocean-view terrace suite, and were given Room 341, which was a rooftop suite with a plunge pool and a wrap-around terrace with a covered daybed looking out to the ocean on one side, and another uncovered daybed on the other side along with a café table and two chairs. The room itself was beautiful and extremely spacious, with a king size bed in the bedroom, a separate living room, and a huge shower, bathroom with 2 vanity areas, and large dressing area. There was also a bar area with fridge and full-size bottles of alcohol, and a Nespresso machine. The fridge was stocked with waters, sodas, beer, and snacks. The suite and terrace were huge, and we kept thinking it must have been the nicest room at the hotel. Our rooftop views were amazing, and we loved watching the sunrises in the morning and having an evening dip in our pool before bed. Little bites and treats were also brought up to the room late every afternoon from the chef, which was a nice surprise. Beloved is an all-inclusive, so we ate all our meals on site. The food at Beloved is about on par with other all-inclusives we've stayed at in Mexico. Favorite dishes we enjoyed were the tacos from the on-site taco truck, Bocadita; the coffees and macarons from the little coffee shop Caffeto; the Shrimp Salad from Le Bisou; and the Fried Lamb, Seafood Risotto, and the mussels appetizer from La Trattoria. We didn't try anything from the beach food menu. Mornings on the beach, Denise the Beach Concierge welcomed us warmly and set up a daybed for us with plenty of beach towels and cold bottles of water. She was so kind and friendly every morning, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The beach at Beloved was lovely with no sargassum, and gentle waves close to the shore. There was a lifeguard present. The sand was like cool soft powder despite the heat, so you could walk barefoot without burning the bottoms of your feet, which isn't the case on a lot of beaches in the Caribbean! We loved spending the mornings and early afternoons on the beach here, reading our books, taking dips, enjoying a cocktail, then heading back to the room to cool off, shower, and rest before heading out to dinner. After dinner each night, there was "chill out" music in the outside courtyard area with a performer on saxophone or violin. Couples gathered on the couches there to enjoy the music, the soft evening breezes, and a nightcap. Very relaxing! Everyone who took care of us at Beloved was so kind and professional, it was a pleasure to interact with them all. Thanks to everyone we encountered during our stay, especially Christian, Mex, Elvis, Denise, and all the servers in Beloved's restaurants, I'm sorry I can't remember all your names! Everyone was wonderful. We are very glad we tried Beloved this year and will definitely be returning.

I wanted to share some thoughts on the beloved after coming here for our 6 or seventh time. The property always hits our mark and we love it but I noticed a couple of things that I thought needed to be addressed. First, it is in the need of an upgrade. The rooms are starting to look dated and need to be spruced up. Our room the ceiling fan didn't work and things were just dated. In the Beloved's defense I think they realized this and have renovated some of the rooms in the main buildings, but we didn't get to see those. The second has to do with the food service. Excellence is making all restaurants across each property to have the same menu. For example, the lobster house has the same menu at the coral, EPM, ERC and El Mar (Beloved). Oregano has the same menu at all of these as well (la isla at beloved). Which is fine but the beloved is small and each of the new menus only has about 5 entree choices of which half or maybe more than half are fish dishes (which my wife doesn't eat) so that leaves maybe 1 or 2 entree choices. This becomes a problem at the beloved because we tend to stay 9 nights and with only 4 restaurants we will have to eat at restaurants multiple times so we may have to eat the same entree twice during our stay which is not desirable. At the bigger resorts there are 8-10 restaurants so there are more choices. I would like to see the beloved add a few entrees to each menu, so the food doesn't become boring. Because if the food becomes boring then we either have to cut our stay to fewer days or not go at all. Another issue with the food service is getting something small for lunch. Because the menus are consistent throughout the properties each restaurant at the Beloved has full entrees for lunch so if you eat lunch at one of these places you really aren't hungry for dinner. I would like to see an addition to the menu where you can get a burger or slice of pizza or a quesadilla something small. Beloved does have a taco wagon where you get some of the best tacos ever, but at the same time after consecutive days you just want something different. They also have a pool side menu with just these things on it, but I don't want to have to eat at pool chair or on the beach in a chair. It is nice to be able to go to a restaurant sit have a glass of water and a small bite. The bigger resorts have las olas to accommodate this. I think the beloved needs to add small plate items to their restaurant menus. These are showstoppers yet, but I just feel the need to point these out because I have found that Excellence does listen to concerns. It is one of the best properties and you will have a good time. We always do and we love it.

I visited Beloved with my partner and we had an absolutely amazing time. The lengths the staff go to create a relaxing experience, as well as to quality of service and food especially stood out to us. Beloved is by far the best resort experience we have ever had the pleasure to stay at, and we plan to be back!

Fantastic and quiet. Great for non-party couples. Skews a little older ages. Good food. Nice beach. Room service was really nice. Service and employees were all really great. I would come again for an important anniversary or celebration.

Please do yourself a favor and go to this resort! I had the most beautiful time with my partner in January. The wait staff was incredibly nice and greeted us with a smile and a yes to every request. We had the opportunity to go to Tulum, and the Xel-Ha, parasailing and jet skiing, we ate the most fantastic meals on a beach bed right next to the water. It was the easiest and most pleasant vacation and gave true meaning to the word luxury. It was not pretentious and the guest coordinator (and every single one of the waitstaff!!) made sure we were having fun every step of the way.
