Reviews for Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico

A great time

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

Resort was large with plenty of restaurants and the main pool was great! We never struggled to get seats at the pool or ocean. The ocean was calm and perfect for our toddler, though the beach was rocky and there was lots of sea grass —so bring water shoes. Shout out to Pamela and Jacob with guest services who upgraded us to an ocean front bungalow which absolutely made our trip! We loved the wet room shower/tub combo which made going straight from pool/ocean to the tub for the toddler super easy. The staff was friendly and our son loved the kind girls at the kids club. We were always greeted with an “hola family” which made it feel like home. The food and drinks were really good (but pricey with lots of added fees). We would recommend and would come back.

Amazing hotel in an amazing 1,000 acre campus. Staff go out of their way to accommodate. Rooms spacious and clean and highly recommend the upcharge for an ocean front room - the view was unbelievable. The food in the steakhouse and asian/sushi restaurants were 5-star. Little taken back that they charge for parking when there is a daily resort fee, but not a big issue.

Beautiful Resort and Great Location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 20 hours ago

We spent five days at the Hyatt Regency Coco Beach and overall had a very nice stay. If you’re looking for a quieter alternative to the San Juan/Condado area, this resort is a strong option. The location is excellent for exploring the eastern part of Puerto Rico, including El Yunque, Luquillo, and excursions to Culebra. You can also stay on property and enjoy activities like kayaking and biking. The Good: The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Staff members were consistently friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The restaurants were all high quality with excellent service. Prices are on the higher side due to Puerto Rico’s wage regulations and the resort’s mandatory “gratuities” and fees, but if you’re a Hyatt Globalist or book through certain travel agencies, the large breakfast buffet being included each day is a big plus. The Not‑So‑Good: The resort hosts a lot of private events, and at times this affects regular guests. The quiet pool was closed only once during our stay, but it was closed all day for a loud corporate event that took over a section of the resort. The group left behind quite a bit of trash, which unfortunately wasn’t cleaned up the next morning. We were also woken up one night by midnight fireworks from another corporate group. The main pool is beautiful, but the resort plays DJ music at a high volume for most of the day. If you’re looking for a peaceful pool experience, this may not be the right fit. One thing the resort deserves real credit for: The pool‑chair “holding” problem that plagues many resorts and cruise ships simply doesn’t happen here. The pool is large, there are plenty of chairs, and between the space and the noise level, no one seems motivated to stake out chairs at dawn. It makes the pool experience much more relaxed. There are also two quiet pools with plenty of chairs, towels, and cabanas. Bottom Line: We genuinely enjoyed our stay. The rooms are comfortable, the staff is excellent, and the location is ideal if you plan to explore the eastern side of Puerto Rico. Just be aware that private events and loud pool music can impact the atmosphere. Also, the overall feel of the resort is fairly generic — if you stayed on property the entire time, you might not realize you’re in Puerto Rico at all. If your goal is to get out and see the island, this is a great home base. If you’re looking for a quiet, stay‑on‑property escape, you may want to weigh the potential for noise and events.
