This Maya archeological site is about 20 kilometers south of Tulum, on the road to Chetumal (Highway 306). On the right side of the road, at about kilometer 206, there's a small blue sign with a pyramid symbol and an arrow pointing left. Turn left to enter the site, parking is free and safe. Entrance fee is 30 pesos and the site takes about an hour to explore.

These ruins are located on the Chuyaxche Lagoon, which is part of the Sian Ka'an Reserve, and they date back to the Late Preclassic period. There is a trail which leads down to the lagoon shore and picnic tables. Here you'll also find boat guides that will take you to explore the lagoons of Sian Ka'an, a Mayan temple in the middle of one of the canals (used in ancient times as part of the Maya trade routes), and where you can swim in crystal blue water. This tour is about $30 U.S. for two hours, but you can get them to lower the price a bit if you have more people. The boat seats seven people. There's also a longer tour that includes a trip to Boca Paila. You can also get to the boat launch site by driving about a kilometer more along the highway and taking a left down another dirt road.
