The spectacular setting on a seaside cliff makes this small Mayan archeological site one of the most picturesque- and one of the most visited. It is located right before the main town of Tulum, driving from Cancun to Tulum, on the left hand side of highway 307. There are loads of arts and crafts being sold at the entrance. It is also one of the least expensive archeological site - entrance fee is 51 pesos.
Located 130 kilometers (80 miles) south from Cancún is one of the most prominent archaeological sites of the Yucatán peninsula. Tulum is situated on the edge of a cliff, and offers a beautiful view of the Caribbean. It has its own beach and an impressive archaeological area available for touring. The major focus of this site is the construction of this ancient city which dates back to between 1200 and 1400 A.D., and displays similar building styles to Chichen Itzá and Uxmal.
