If you've always had the itch to surf, there is no better time than the present and no better place to learn than Santa Cruz. Sure, the water can be a little chilly, but a full body wet suit and booties, plus a lot of movement, will warm your bones up in no time.

Club Ed deals with first time surfers every day and is committed to providing a safe, fun and rewarding experience for each individual. They are not going to throw you on a big wave with a few pointers under your belt! While Santa Cruz is home to some of the top breaks in the world, it has an equal number of consistently small waves, and that's where Club Ed starts with its students.

They do offer more advanced classes for surfers who've ridden waves before, and offer paddle boarding lessons. Paddle boarding is growing quickly in popularity and perfect for those who want to get out on the ocean and ride waves with less strenuous movement.

You can also rent gear from Club Ed if you couldn't take your board as carry-on.
