A bit pricey for local standards but with a superb cuisine and a lovely, charming place, Panchita, owned and run by Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio, seeks to raise the bar and set new standards for popular creole cuisine. The star of the list are the anticuchos, but there are many other delicious options, such as the tacu-tacu (beans and rice), the cochinillo de 21 dias (21-day-old suckling pig), or the Aji de Gallina for example, or the the Lomo Saltado: you may spend some US $25 per person for a complete meal. And remember to try the Limenian dessert, the picarones (a kind of fried doughnuts).
The restaurant offers valet parking.

With so many establishments in Cusco vying for the title of most eclectic or psychedelic, the décor at Trotamundos is refreshingly simplistic and tasteful. Olive toned walls are complemented by large wooden tables and benches, black and white photographs and an enormous fireplace. Perhaps the only thing amiss with their stylish atmosphere is the pop music playing at all times of the day. Located in the Plaza de Armas directly across from the Cathedral, there are hardly any other locales that can rival their view. Offering a large and varied menu of soups, salads, sandwiches and phenomenal deserts, this is one of few places in Cusco where you can whittle away the hours reading, people watching and enjoying a drink without feeling hassled or rushed. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Trotamundos doubles as an Internet café, and computers are available for use during their hours of operation.
