We arrived at this lovely 1842 home in the early evening. It looks magnificent from the street with large front porch, white columns and beautiful trees. The evening receptionist was friendly and helpful in getting our bags to our second floor room, the Mercer. It was a spacious room with a desk, couch and three chairs . The lighting was very poor for the room and bathroom. What was most disturbing was the black mold on the bathtub grout. The shower curtain was pretty bad as well. The breakfast in the parlor was served promptly and the cook was very accommodating. What was very annoying and unprofessional was the woman who was sitting at the front desk near us talking loudly on her phone which was on speaker the entire time. I did not care to listen to her friend’s medical problems with acid reflux etc. the issues with this Inn could easily be rectified with management attention as it is a lovely historic home. Clean up the mold, buy a new shower curtain and train staff on how to interact with guests. We have stayed at numerous historic homes that get it right such as the Wentworth Mansion in Charleston.

Had a lovely one-night stay at the Inn to break up a really long drive. Beautiful place, very calm and relaxing. I wish the weather had been better so we could have enjoyed the patio or the magnificent front porch! Janet and the rest of the staff are incredibly friendly and sweet. They really work hard to make sure you have everything you need and will do whatever they can to make your stay better. Would absolutely stay again!

This is our 3rd stay here in 2025. We really like this B&B. It is old southern hospitality. From 5pm - 6pm they have happy hour and they serve some delicious home made appetizers. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfy. The bathrooms are a little dated, but everything works. The staff in the evening and afternoon have always been wonderful. Our breakfasts are always delicious. This past visit I had an egg souffle prepared by LaKeisha which was amazing. My husband had their scrambles eggs which were delicious. The inn is surrounded by several beautiful historic homes. In the summertime it's great to sit out on the big porch for happy hour. I highly recommend this place.

My husband and I spent 4 nights at this historic inn in Macon. Honestly, if we had spent one or two nights here, this likely would have been a 5-star review. We stayed in Lyman Hall. The bed was very comfortable. Shower was great. The room is in need of some TLC (paint, new carpet). The staff was lovely and very attentive. The porch was amazing and we spent hours on it over Christmas in the beautiful warm weather. Breakfast was okay, but a little tiresome after day two…the menu doesn’t change although you have a few options. The evening hors d'oeuvres were also fine, but nothing special and the same every evening. Note, the inn advertises themselves as boutique hotel, not a B & B, and they only have a tiny kitchen, so they do the best they can! Again, if we had only spent a night or two, we would have been perfectly happy. The most important things (comfortable bed, good shower, great staff) were five star.

My wife and I spent a four days at the 1842 Inn. The décor was lovely, the rooms and grounds peaceful and soothing, the food excellent, and best of all the staff were pleasant, friendly, and attentive. I’m not sure how the location could be better, as were able to explore a number of historic and architectural sites within a half mile of the Inn. Overall, and especially if you are looking for a rest with quiet, good food, and pleasant staff, the 1842 Inn is the place.
