Amazing stay

My husband and I spent two nights in the Sunset cabin. The place is absolutely magical with unbelievable views. The cabin was decorated beautifully., very comfortable and clean. Everyone was very welcoming ,made us feel special and at home. Breakfast was scrumptious. We definitely would recommend experiencing this wonderful bed-and-breakfast.

A TRUE 5 Star BNB: Hearty Breakfast, Comfy Room, Kind Staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

A TRUE BNB with a real breakfast and clean comfortable bed and room just 15 min west of Durango. We just returned and had an enjoyable stay at this beautiful and serene BnB. So glad we stayed here instead of a usual hotel in Durango. The Mesa Verde room was like staying in a room in the attic. The bedroom was up one flight of narrow stairs and the nice warm bath and mini-kitchen were downstairs. Prob not a good set-up for mobility challenged so ask questions and choose a room that's a good fit for you. We took the short stroll to the lake and sat and enjoyed the quiet peaceful view. Breakfast was hearty: eggs, toasty hashbrowns, sausage, granola (prob not homemade), fruit, bread & pastry selection, Blue Lake Ranch jam, coffee & juice. The main 'house' is unique lovely architecture with brick floors and Spanish decor similar to places we stayed in Santa Fe (Santa Fe cost is much higher). Kind helpful staff. We will be back!

It is what it was

We recently stayed for two nights at the Blue Lake Ranch, while exploring Durango and Mesa Verde National Park. The good. Very nice staff, easy check in and off the beaten path. We stayed in the Garden Room which like the rest of the place was in desperate need of renovation. While the bed was comfortable the furniture reminded me of my Grandmother's basement in the 80's. Mismatched, worn out furniture that needs to be replaced. Bathroom had a 1970's playboy mansion vibe but it worked. I must say, it's been a lifetime since I've seen a mint green toilet but again it did its job. Breakfast was adequate. Fresh fruit, eggs, lots of barely cooked bacon and prepackaged breads and muffins. The highlight was the french toast casserole which was almost like bread pudding and was delicious. It was extremely quiet and again, the staff were friendly but we probably won't return.

Outside of town stay in need of TLC

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 months ago

I really wanted to like Blue Lake Ranch. Durango was busy with a biker rally for Labor Day weekend so I felt fortunate that we would be outside of town. It did allow the quiet that staying in town wouldn’t have provided. We stayed in the Cedar Casita which is in need of some basic maintenance. All of the blinds needed replacing, some of the slats were broken, raising and lowering of them took effort and there were knots in the strings that made that challenging. The blinds and the curtain panels didn’t allow the ability to completely darken the room. The mattress needs to be replaced. The AC is an evaporator system that did cool the room. The transom window in the bedroom needed some repair. I was met by a small rodent in the shower which I was willing to chalk up to being in the country until I later read another review that another guest had the same problem. It has so much potential to be a beautiful place to stay. Currently feels in need of TLC that at this price point should be a given. Breakfast was fine for what we needed and the staff accommodated our early train ride time. Everyone in the main house was very nice. I wouldn’t stay again.

Peaceful, relaxing

What a wonderful stay. Wish we’d stayed more than one night. We were welcomed upon arrival by the owner. Being out in the country, it was nice to have the option of sharing a bottle of wine and charcuterie board for dinner. We enjoyed sitting by the fountain, watching the birds. I enjoyed walking the paths. Felt secluded and peaceful. The breakfast was delicious.
