The Cliffs Resort

Stayed here recently and had a fantastic experience. The rooms are phenomenal and facing the water is stunning! The sunsets were out of this world. We enjoyed the restaurant one evening as well and had delicious food and drinks while the sun was setting. Mariah was so helpful in getting us a table in the patio to see the sunset. Ben was so helpful throughout the dining experience and Vaughn and Angela were as well, very attentive, down to earth, and kind. They even have blankets for you if you get cold as the sun starts to set. The service was out of this world outstanding. Peter and Tyler from valet were awesome! They were so attentive, helpful, personable, and cool to talk to. Appreciated that Peter brought the bags up to the room too. Front desk shout out to Makennia and Rakhi for helping guide me with everything at the hotel and making the experience seamless. I also bought some stuff at the gift shop and Jessica was awesome and so fun to talk with while I was in there. Oh by the way if the restaurant is running the salmon dish special get it. That was a 5-star dish! Pool was great too! If you want a seat get there early but we didn’t really need seats so just walked in and enjoyed the water and sun. They serve food and drinks to you poolside. This was a great spot, great value and location if you’re wanting to be close to SLO.

The Cliffs was a wonderful place to take my family of ten to. The rooms were large and clean and accommodating. The beach was nearby and the grandchildren enjoyed the tidal pools and picking up hermit crabs. The Marisol restaurant was excellent and served a wide variety of meals. My daughter liked the raw oysters. The highlight of our stay was the Easter Brunch. It was a nice day seated outside enjoying the beautiful sunny day. The food served was a wide variety of breakfast selections, as well as various meats and also seafood. We had a very nice stay at the Cliffs Hotel and Spa.

Upon entering the room, I found shards of glass scattered across the floor and a dead bug in the bathtub. It was clear the room had not been properly cleaned after the previous guests checked out. This level of housekeeping is completely unacceptable and fell far short of basic hygiene standards. I sincerely hope management addresses this issue immediately.

The location is great but a few notable negatives. First and foremost, the walls are SUPER thin. Basic hallway noise sounds like it’s happening in your room and a crying kid next door, sounds like they’re in your bed. Additionally, the hotel is not super family friendly. No kids under 18 allowed in the hot tub after 7pm. I understand the thought but why not make it 8pm or later? We tired to sit around a fire pit one night and the employee couldn’t get it working, so we were out of luck. Otherworldly se, they have done a good job of maintaining the property despite its age.
