El Dorado Casitas Resort, an adults-only all-inclusive that fronts a manicured beach 15 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. Instead, culinary excellence takes center stage here, offering up everything from upscale Italian concoctions to Mexican street food. During the day, water is the main draw: Thirteen swimming pools meander through the property, with almost as many swim-up bars. For an added treat, book a palapa-roofed casita that connects a private terrace to the property’s lazy river.
Forget what it feels like to walk anywhere – from your room, step into a pool and float down gently flowing waterways to fetch a fresh papaya and pineapple smoothie from the health bar. Lounge on a white sand beach and take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico. Request a lime with your afternoon cerveza. Watch the sunset at a beachfront restaurant and order a salad with no hesitation – vegetables are grown onsite in an organic greenhouse.

We are just returning from another fantastic vacation at this wonderful resort! It is a real life paradise! We have been several times and each time it exceeds our expectations. Our 11th visit was no exception. Our Casita was section 32 and we were spoiled by our wonderful butlers Alfredo and Alondra. Their small touches and little surprises left each night for us was so sweet. They could not do enough for us. All staff around the resort, from bar and waiting staff to cleaning and gardening staff are so friendly and always remember your name and your drink or coffee or order. The food is outstanding at all restaurants. We did Fuentes too which was a nice change for a night, albeit it did feel more rushed than last time and the no show was a shame compared to last visit. Duo were very good though The cleanliness of the rooms and hotel is absolutely tip top! Martini bar staff and drinks are lovely however everyone commenta some light entertainment would be appreciated maybe a singer or pianist in the back ground 10-11 or 12 for after dinner drinks if you don’t want to go to Guacamayas Personally I was very reluctant to sit out at our poolside at 32s due to the iguana activities. I appreciate they have been there before the hotel, however they are daunting when we are not used to them in the UK. Having been 11 times it’s not the first time we have witnesses them around 32s however this time they were jumping on to the sunbeds and walking up and down them. I was trying to relax with a cocktail at the poolside and friends in the pool warned me one was running right over to me, needless to say I had to jump straight in to the pool. If there was some kind of deterrent such as citrus planting etc to taper their activity I would feel more at ease to book my next trip Other staff members who were exceptional were Daniel, Cleo, Randy, Israel, Roberto, Giulermo, Felipe, Emiliano, Arecely, Joselyn, Jacqueline, Edgar, Luis, the list goes on apologies if we missed any others there are no bad staff on the resort We did miss the band you had last year with the male singer who sang Shaggy songs etc they were excellent and had everyone doing the conga etc such fun!

We have just returned from another fantastic recharge vacation at El Dorado Casitas, once again staying in the Emerald One Bedroom Casita in Section 32. Remarkably, this marks our 20th consecutive year visiting the property, and it continues to be one of our favorite destinations. As always, the people are what make this resort truly special. From check-in to check-out, everything was seamless and efficient. Our butlers coordinated every detail flawlessly, ensuring a completely relaxing experience from start to finish. Every member of the butler team contributed to our satisfaction, but Montse, Yalma, and Luna deserve special recognition. What an incredible team. The Exotic Travelers team, Angie and Aida, once again handled all the behind-the-scenes logistics perfectly. Their attention to detail makes travel effortless. A special thank you also goes to Ramon and Jose, our beach butlers. With these two looking after you, there is truly nothing you could possibly need that they won't anticipate and deliver. The property itself remains beautifully maintained. The grounds are meticulously groomed, and while the rooms are beginning to show their age, they are still exceptionally well cared for, comfortable, and welcoming. After so many visits, it genuinely feels like coming home. The food continues to improve each year. While it has not quite returned to the exceptional pre-2020 level across all venues, the trend is definitely positive. The standout exception was our in-room dining experience, which remains outstanding and continues to get even better with every visit. My one significant criticism is the current house wine selection. Unfortunately, it has declined to the point where it is difficult to enjoy. I would strongly encourage ownership to consider bringing back the wines from El Cielo Winery. Since the winery is part of the same ownership group, this seems like a natural fit. During the years El Cielo wines were offered as the house selection, they were excellent and greatly enhanced the overall dining experience. After 20 years, El Dorado Casitas continues to deliver the relaxation, service, and hospitality that keep us coming back year after year. We are already booked for our next visit! See you all soon!

Hola Chrystian & Carlos, Greetings from Seattle, Washington! I finally have a moment to sit down and wanted to share how truly grateful and thankful I am for my vacation at your beautiful property. I miss it so much already! Thank you all for your wonderful hospitality. Your team is the main reason I continue to visit this hotel they make the guest experience truly next level. There may be brand new hotels like Secrets, Royalton, and many others, and I’ve stayed at most of them, but I have absolutely found my favorite of them all. El Dorado Casitas simply cannot be beaten. The team creates genuine connections with guests, and you’re not just staying for two weeks you become part of the family. Juan (“The Monster”) An absolutely incredible bartender. We all love him dearly, and he deserves all the recognition I can offer. He made us laugh, made us smile, and made our trip one of a kind. Such a humble man. I can be hard to please sometimes, but he is an absolute legend! Carlos, I am so grateful you were able to arrange for him to be with us that week. The whole group enjoyed seeing him every day. Norma: My dear friend Norma! How on earth did you find her? She is a beautiful soul and a true angel. She hugs guests, builds genuine relationships, and is an absolute gem for your hotel and company. I hope Lomas keeps her forever! Amelia: The best lunch chef! Her cooking is amazing, and she is always happy. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does for the guests. I shared so many laughs with her and Norma every day. Honestly, I haven’t even tried the Kick restaurant for lunch during either of my visits because I always want to stay near them! Fernando: What an amazing guy! His service is stellar. You send him a WhatsApp message asking for something, and in a puff of smoke he’s suddenly right behind you like a magic genie! How he gets there so quickly is unbelievable. He was even replying to me from home when I forgot who my morning or afternoon butler was. He never once complained and always helped with anything I needed. I would love to have him as our butler every time we visit he’s number one! Omar: I can see exactly why he is the Head Butler. His customer service is exceptional. He was messaging me a week before our stay to help organize things for our group and checked in with me regularly to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and receiving great service. He truly elevated our experience this year, and for that we are all incredibly grateful. I didn’t get her name, but the breakfast manager each morning at Santa Fe deserves special recognition as well. What a wonderful lady! She remembered us from last year and made breakfast a fantastic experience every single day. Galilea: What an incredible person. She remembers everyone and everything! She checked on us almost daily at the pool, reviewed our restaurant reservations, and even booked some for us when we didn’t have any. Her customer service skills are outstanding. She mentioned one day that she would love to become a butler, and I would absolutely love to see her in that role. She truly deserves it. She and Fernando would make an incredible team! Carlos: Thank you for taking the time to come and say hello. It was wonderful meeting you and having a chance to chat. You are such a great guy, and I can see why your team enjoys working for you. Every day I could see how happy the staff were. I’ve stayed at other hotels where the staff seemed unhappy, but your team is always smiling, laughing, and genuinely enjoying themselves. It was a pleasure meeting you, and thank you for everything you did for us. Chrystian: I hope you enjoyed your well deserved vacation! Truly, I am so grateful for everything you did for our group. I didn’t even expect a reply when I first reached out, but you responded and made our vacation even more special than we could have imagined. I cannot thank you enough, my friend. I plan to visit your hotel every year without fail, and I will continue spreading the word about this amazing property and the incredible experiences we’ve had there. We are already planning to book for May 2027 with the group. We’ve even made more new friends with other guests this year who are planning to join us next year. It seems we’ve started a May tradition perhaps it won’t be low season anymore if we keep recruiting people! And if it’s at all possible, we would be eternally grateful 🙏🏼 if we could have Juan with us each time we stay at Casitas 31. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I know you have other talented bartenders, but I only want to come if we have Juan! 🤣 He’s the man! Apologies for the length of this email, but I wanted to make sure I properly expressed my heartfelt thanks to all of you. I cannot wait to return to the Mexican Caribbean and enjoy another Blue Hawaiian in the Casitas! Photo attached of our amazing time!! Gracias a todos Warm regards, Kyle

Avoid this resort if you value your privacy and safety. Management cares more about protecting their staff than paying guests. A male worker was allowed into the female change room while I was undressed, yet management completely dismissed my complaint. The hypocrisy is unreal: they police a guest in a private changing area, but allowed a nude, intoxicated person to harass people at the public disco with zero consequences. Pathetic management and a total lack of safety guidelines for women.

This was our 5th or 6th time at this resort and, again, it did not disappoint! We love this resort and the people who work here! The resort is beautiful and the workers are constantly keeping it beautiful! The beach is not the best and you really can't go into the water due to the massive amount of seaweed, but that is the not resorts fault. They work endlessly to get rid of it, but it is an endless battle! There were plenty of pools to cool off in, so it was not a problem for us. The resort does require a lot of walking, but that was a good thing after eating and drinking so much! (and they do have shuttles) All of the food we had here was so good! The only one we really didn't like was the Mexican Restaurant (Rincon). Kampai was our favorite, as always, followed by Sante Fe and D'Italia. We also did the sunset dinner cruise at Maroma and it was amazing! But what really makes this resort stand out are the employees. They are always so courteous and always greet you with a smile. They are all amazing and went out of their way to make our vacation wonderful, but a few really stood out for us this trip. 1. Emiliano - he was our concierge in Bldg. 32 and he was AMAZING! He made our trip so special and was always checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. If we needed something in our room it was always there when we returned. He made all of our dinner reservations and we never had a problem with anything! He even remembered us immediately from our last trip as soon as he saw us, which really was special! 2. Benjamin - He was our bartender at the pool bar and always kept us well hydrated! We always ordered mini-beers and he made his with Baileys (which was so good!). One day he didn't have any Baileys and later that day we were at lunch behind the bar and he appeared with 2 mini-beers! He said he got some Baileys from Sante Fe so he could make them for us! Now that is service way above and beyond and very appreciated! You don't get that kind of service in the U.S.! 3. Tony - We had a question about our membership and some of the changes and he was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He made us feel better about our membership. 4. El Fredo - He wasn't our butler this year, but we've had him in the past and when he saw us walking he immediately came up to us to say hi! Now I'm sure he sees many, many people but to recognize us after over a year, that was impressive! It really made us feel special :-) This is why we can't wait to return. The employees really make this resort top notch. They are so dedicated to making your vacation special. There are only 2 suggestions I have for a better experience: - Please upgrade your house wine! I am not a wine snob, but I could only barely drink the Chardonnay and the Merlot and to buy a better bottle was very expensive! It would be nice to have a better brand of wine. - It would also be nice if there were more cardio equipment in the Fitness Center. There are only a few treadmills and 1 bike. If you didn't get there early, they were usually in use. By the way, the cold towels were wonderful! Other than those 2 suggestions, this resort is amazing and we can't wait to return! So don't listen to the bad reviews. This place is great and you will have a wonderful time!
