Fairmont Washington DC, Georgetown

Unfortunately, our stay did not meet the standard we expected from a Fairmont property. We experienced several maintenance issues, including a leaking toilet, a malfunctioning shower with no hot water, an overflowing sink, and inaccurate minibar notifications. While individual maintenance issues can occur, having multiple problems throughout the stay was disappointing. I also contacted the hotel afterward to share our concerns but did not receive a response. I hope the property takes these concerns seriously and improves both room maintenance and guest follow-up.

Pros: Excellent location between Georgetown and Downtown. Very good service in general. Top quality common areas (beautiful lobby, active bar with great options, quality dining). Con: Current temps are 13 degrees below average and the hotel skimps.on expenses by de activating heating for the rooms which is unacceptable for this level of property. I called for a space heater, was offered one and was sent a fan (!). I called again and was informed the hotel has an "energy savings plan" (euphemism for cost cutting), but an exception would be made and heating would be activated for my room. It was, yet it worked marginally after a while. I was forced to source a space heater from a friend nearby to avoid being cold during my stay. I have stayed here annually for over a decade with no issues until now but unfortunately temps.are lower than average due to a Noreaster.

I was there with an association, did not take good advantage of all the amenities. Clean, spacious rooms. Good service.

What I have to add to the general praise - belatedly - is that the allergy care for my son at breakfast was exemplary. The team went out of their way to cater for multiple allergies, and he was able to have pancakes (egg free, dairy free) in a hotel for the first time. I'd like to especially thank the Exec Chef Jaime Montes de Oca, who made a point of checking in several times to see if their work was being enjoyed and ask for input on how to make the service better. That experience boosted my son's confidence in trying new things (well, other pancakes) at different restaurants and hotels since. In general, it was a very relaxing stay. I've stayed at the R-C in Georgetown too, a few years ago, it's also great but I find the Fairmont more relaxed....
