Forty 1° North

Highlight: location on Thames Street very close to shops and the Bowen Wharf. Rooms overlooking the marina were right sized with a small desk, fireplace and 2 chairs and a small table. Large bathroom had a shower and tub and very powerful hair dryer. Turndown service included a bottle of fresh water every night. We arrived after Labor Day so it was quieter than what I'd imagine the bustling summer would be. Food: Breakfast was served by Morgan (lady with green hair) who was very professional and friendly. The breakfast was hardy, plentiful and good. Would recommend breakfast but lunch/dinner some place else. At lunch, the chicken was overcooked for both entrees. FYI they do not have oatmeal so bring your own even though the night manager told us they did. So definitely an opportunity for clarity between the kitchen staff and wait staff. Would recommend the staff replace the menu holders as they were falling apart and didn't always have a menu in them. Service: Valet/bellman helpful with driving us to our prearranged dinners or tours. However the front desk seemed to be understaffed as a few times we called for a valet to bring the car down or to ask a question, or check-out and the phone line rolled over to voicemail instead of a person. Overall the staff was friendly though. Would stay here again for convenience to the marina and shops as well as free rides to restaurants and the views of the water. A great, central location for a tourist visiting Newport for the first time.

Meeting with Nic Ivancic recently gave me total confidence, even though we haven't officially booked yet. Instead of high-pressure sales tactics, he brought incredible industry insight, genuine warmth, and a sharp focus on understanding our specific vision. We had such a wonderful experience at Forty 1° North. The location is beautiful, the atmosphere is elegant and relaxing, and the service was excellent. A special thank you to Josh, the manager, who was absolutely amazing. He was very welcoming, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. It’s clear that Josh really cares about the guests and the experience they have. We truly appreciated his kindness and attention to detail. Thank you, Josh, for making our visit so special! Outstanding hospitality Our stay at Forty 1° North was truly enjoyable. The hotel has a beautiful atmosphere and a great location, but the exceptional hospitality really made the experience stand out. Josh, the manager, was especially impressive. He was extremely friendly, professional, and genuinely attentive throughout our stay. He made us feel very welcome and was always happy to help whenever needed. It’s not often you come across someone who puts so much care into making guests feel comfortable. Josh definitely deserves recognition for the way he takes care of people. We had a great stay and would happily return to Forty 1° North in the future!
