Our Home in Florence

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We thoroughly enjoyed our most recent visit to the Sina Villa Medici. We have stayed there several times, beginning with our Honeymoon in 2000. What has struck us is the consistency of the staff and their devotion to making our stay as memorable as possible. While some of the criticisms of its need for a makeover are valid, we still find its location, its hospitality, and its overall accommodations are quite fine. We celebrated Fabio’s retirement. He checked us into the Hotel in 2000, and in 2025 and now 2026. Antonio runs the breakfast room and is very sympathetic of my rudimentary but sincere command of the Italian. Florence has a very special place in our hearts as does the Sina Villa Medici.

Trip of a lifetime

My time at the Sina Villa Medici was magical. As soon as you walked in there is always someone to greet you no matter the time of day or night. Our room was so quaint and you leave your room keys at the front desk when you go out for the day/evening. The pool was just opened when we arrived. That was a nice suprise since the weather was quite warm. I Hotel bar had a piano player which created such a romantic atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.

Extremely Overpriced

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

For a five star hotel, this hotel felt worse than the average LaQuinta. The staff seemed to look down upon us immediately upon arrival and constantly tried to upsell us on various offers throughout our stay. The room was nothing like the photos nor the description and it overlooked a dingy inner square full of peeling paint and rotting corners (see attached photo), despite the online claims of garden views. While the staff cleaned the room at least twice a day, the details of the room remained worn and dirty. This hotel was also surrounded by sketchy buildings and people, and I often felt unsafe when leaving the hotel. Overall, this experience was far from what was advertised online, and I feel it was extremely overpriced.

Great Hotel

Fantastic hotel close to the train station and within walking distance of all the sights in Florence. We are from the US and the majority of the guests staying while we were there were also from the US. The Concierge Desk is very helpful (especially Andrea) and Mussa at the pool was wonderful!

A gem of a hotel in Florence

What a beautiful hotel. Room was clean and welcoming. We had a very large balcony. What a great spot to sit and relax. You could here the elevator quite clearly in our room but having the large balcony made up for that. The front desk ladies were more than pleasant and helpful. Lovely staff. We enjoyed out breakfast each morning looking out at their garden and pool. Food was great. Service also. Hotel is walking distance to the train which was a plus for us. Easy walk around Florence. Definitely would stay again. Thank you to all.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Villa Medici in April. From the moment we were greeted by our courteous driver at the train station to our return, our expectations were exceeded. The room was lovely, overlooking all of Florence, and we knew we would spend time watching the sunset every evening. And the fresh flowers, wonderful cantuccini and vin santo were a welcome treat!
