The Adlon is one of those hotels that’s so comfortable, you just don’t want to leave. Everything (the room, location, and staff) is just lovely. We booked a superior deluxe room and asked for a high floor, which we did get. The room had windows down to the floor that opened out over the busy and entertaining Unter den Linden Boulevard. The bathroom was huge, with heated floors and towel racks, double sinks, and a separate toilet room. The lights were touch-controlled, and the room included a Nespresso machine and a stocked mini bar. I could write paragraphs about the amazing breakfast buffet, but you wouldn’t believe me. Suffice it to say that it included everything you might possibly want for breakfast: champagne and caviar, fruits, salmon, currywurst, meatballs, cheeses… I’ll just add that if you’re indecisive on whether or not to include breakfast with your room, my advice is to just do it. My only criticism about this hotel is that the room felt rather warm during our stay, but this seemed common throughout Germany, in all indoor places. In general, air conditioning just isn’t as strong as what we’re used to in the United States (by law, I think). Finally, I want to mention that every member of the staff that we encountered was friendly and welcoming, without exception. They were what really made our stay there such a joy.

As soon as we pulled up outside the hotel, 2 liveried staff opened the car doors, took our bags and escorted us to reception-a great welcome. The check in was smooth and we were offered a glass of bubbly. The location of this hotel is perfect as it is right next to the Brandenberg Gate, handy for S/U bahn stations and walking distance to many of Berlins sights. We had booked a Deluxe room and it did not disappoint, with lovely fittings, furnishings, bathroom, etc. We liked the traditional styling and atmosphere of this hotel as well as the service from all of the staff : the right balance of friendliness with formality. Breakfast is an outstanding buffet-both in quantity and quality. Champagne and caviar are on offer along with varying smoked fish, in addition to cold and traditional hot items such as sausages, bacon, etc. etc. There is and a la carte menu from which you can order eggs cooked how you like them , pancakes, eggs Benedict, etc. The swimming pool is lovely-just the right temperature and there is a spa, saunas, jacuzzi, etc. Yes, the Adlon is not cheap, but you get what you pay for and we would love to return.

One of the world’s great hotels. We stayed seven nights and loved every minute. Fabulous attentive staff, all of whom couldn’t be nicer or more helpful. Incredible breakfast buffet actually making lunch unnecessary. Terrific location with both U-Bahn and S-Bahn immediately in front. Can’t wait to go back.
