Leaving daily at dawn and again at dusk, groups of four are taken out to view nature in its most awe-inspiring moments. Less heart-racing activities include taking a dip in your private pool, enjoying a siesta in the shade of your natural window sala, or indulging in a relaxing massage. End each day with a gourmet meal on the main deck, as all of Africa is seemingly spread out before you. As night falls, cozy up to the fire and admire the canopy of stars glittering from above. Oct 5, 2009 This has to be the premier lodge in the Madikwe Reserve (a malaria-free zone). Every detail of the lodge is impeccable - decor, private suites, service and food - all outstanding PLUS!! The courteous and attentive staff was collectively the best I've encountered at any property. Our chef lovingly presented our meals in different venues- wine cellar, firefront, deck, lodge - fabulous food and wines are all part of what makes Mateya Safari Lodge so special. Our suite was appointed with every amenity - outdoor showers, marble baths, full-view glass doors, infinity pool overlooking the watering hole. From highly educational game drives to showering under African skies, every minute of our stay was pure bush posh!! An unpretentious yet exclusive lodge. A combination of serenity and service to the nth degree. I may never attain Nirvana, but this could be close.
