I had stayed at Moonrise two years ago and had a pleasant two night stay. Upon returning due to the positive experience, this three night stay has been quite different. Housekeeping came automatically day two and did a partial clean. When we asked for housekeeping to complete the tasks the next day, we left for a local graduation, and returned 10 hours later with no response from housekeeping. When I asked about this at the front desk, the man told me that housekeeping only comes upon request and they were gone for the day. If they are upon request, why not have said that from the beginning, and why did they come prior day when we didn't request? There is nothing in writing in the room about "green" housekeeping policy or choices. This is odd...not sure if management works here or staff is missing or?

We came to St. Louis for our anniversary and selected the moonrise based on reviews and overall online recommendations. Nothing disappointed completely, but nothing wowed us either. We were very excited about the prospects of the rooftop bar, which ends up being a nice rooftop sitting area where you can sit after going inside and getting a drink from a very bland looking bar with all entertainment being provided by one JBL 110 speaker inside. The room was a typical boutique hotel room, not large but supplied everything we needed. The bed was mediocre and the shower was a major disappointment. Very little pressure from a directly overhead showerhead. Enough to rinse off, but not get a good solid wash. The location advertised as well online, but there really isn’t that much awesome. The most activity on the street was of course the dispensary across the street. Fortunately, it is St. Louis, so a short Uber gets you to other areas and lots of great restaurants and more.

I reserved a room on Feb 7th for this weekend and they bumped my reservation due their own incompetence of "overbooking". I drove over 11 hours to get there and informed them the morning of that I was on my way there and would arrive around 830. When I arrived I was told that the site I booked from canceled my reservation when in fact the hotel itself canceled (again I told them I was on the way)! No manager contact, just an "oh well fend for yourself" attitude. The front desk lady was helpful in trying to accommodate, but I will not be booking here again

An Art Deco/Midcentury Modern reworking of an old hotel in the University district. The rooms have all been modernized and streamlined to the point where I had to call the desk to ask how to operate the faucet in the sink. (Hint: no motion sensor; the cap just tilts backward.) (Desk was very patient about it, BTW.) The decor is amusing and eye-catching, as is a large portion of the clientele: with concert venue The Pageant right next door, it's indie central. We weren't bothered by noise, although I was a little concerned initially at how well I could hear conversations in the hallway from our room. But people were considerate later in the evening. If you explore the neighborhood, be aware that Delmar Blvd. gets a little sketchy if you go too far east.

This was our first (and last!) visit to Moonrise Hotel in St. Louis, MO. My husband & I initially planned to stay for 1 night (a Friday) in a Jacuzzi King Room. We paid $255.70. CHECK-IN: Prior to check-in, I emailed reservations@moonrisehotel.com with a question & request (a quiet room); my email was ignored. We arrived around 6:30p, & check-in took approximately 10 minutes. We were assigned room #512.. next to the elevator, ice machine, stairs & on the side of the building next to The Pageant. Not a quiet area. • Amenities: Coffee maker, hair dryer, a few hangers, iron, luggage rack, mini fridge & safe. No microwave. • Bath: The jacuzzi tub controls were broken. The screen would not turn on, so my husband had to YouTube how to operate the jets. Even after a bath/emptying the tub, the jets automatically turned on several more times. • Bed: Medium-firm; scratchy sheets • Cleanliness: Abysmal, e.g. the walls surrounding the toilet appeared to be covered in pee(??) • Cooling/heating: Room stayed comfortable • Decor: Funky, but clearly a cover-up for the unsanitary conditions. • Sound: Very noisy outside; no wonder the hotel put a white noise machine on the bedside. If only the different settings worked. • TV: Very basic. No streaming options. • View: Buildings & a sliver of the Delmar Blvd. • WiFi: Didn't use; T-Mobile worked well CUSTOMER SERVICE: Subpar. The front desk clerk was curt & disinterested. Not to mention, the desk was an absolute mess covered in scattered paperwork, empty fast food cups, etc. Also, the valet kept trying to bum cigarettes off guests. LOCATION: The Delmar Loop used to be a cool area to explore. Now it's dirty, smelly & feels unsafe. I was harassed by four men while walking to Insomnia Cookies (with my husband, no less). PARKING: Behind the hotel; complimentary. Definitely bring everything inside & park under a light. OTHER: Unfortunately, we had to depart around 9/10:00 PM due to a family emergency. We didn't request a refund, but the overnight clerk (much nicer than the first!) suggested I email the manager & voluntarily provided their contact information: mel@moonrisehotel.com I emailed 3x (12/28, 1/2 & 1/4). I even Cc'd the reservations team. I was completely ignored. Not to mention, I never received a copy of my hotel folio. Would I recommend/stay again? Absolutely not. Disgustingly dirty, overpriced, uncomfortable & unsafe. Not to mention, horrific customer service. NOTE: My poor rating has nothing to do with not receiving a refund. That would have been a goodwill gesture but not expected.
