Once a nondescript public library building, overlooking the Prinsengracht (Prince’s Canal), Andaz Amsterdam has been transformed into a fantastical dream-world by Dutch architect and renowned designer Marcel Wanders. Traditional Dutch art and culture meshes with the present at every turn. Sit in the oversized tulip chairs, read the history of Amsterdam on the wallpaper, stroll through the romantic secretive garden, and take pictures in our Instagram-worthy Observatorium - where the history of Dutch seafaring is retold through light-fixture constellations and Old World maps.

Comfortable hotel with a funky, "Alice in Amsterdam" vibe nestled on the Prinsengracht and within a 10-20 minute walk of most of the top sights in Amsterdam. Rooms are comfortable and the service is top notch. Great breakfast service in the morning and a complementary Gin tasting in the evening with a short lesson on Dutch Gin history.

Great location in Amsterdam, central but not too busy. Room was stylish and educational. Amenities were superb. Breakfast with many choices served in a comfortable setting.

Lovely location right on the canal. A short walk to city center. This is my second stay here in Amsterdam at the Andaz. The restaurant on site has great food and breakfast is superb. Cute garden center and decor. Rooms are a very nice size for Europe.

Andaz is situated in a great location for accessing canal cruises, Anne Frank House, museums, restaurants etc. The staff is friendly and very helpful, the rooms are clean, and beds are quite comfortable. The hotel and room decor is artsy and quirky with unusual statues, wall coverings and chairs. In addition, the room sink and shower are only separated by a curtain giving little privacy between bed and facility. Using the sink at night means shedding light onto anyone sleeping. I believe there are some guests that would prefer a better separated shower/sink area from the bed

Definitely not a Category 7 based on my evaluation. It is an ok place but not coming back due to unfriendly staff and lack of expected accommodations being small and with no chance for upgrades even if I paid for it.
