About the Hotel

Embraced by Canggu Beach, whispering rice fields, a quaint fishing village and the Batu Balong Temple, Hotel Tugu Bali is a sanctuary unlike any you may have encountered before. This exclusive retreat on the southwest shore of Bali was built on one man's passion for the romantic art, history and the cultures of Bali and Java. It is the island's first boutique museum hotel, and its handsome touches include nearly 1,000 exquisite antiques. You are sure to be enchanted as you dine in an 18th-century Kang Xi-period temple, or sleep in a traditional Balinese-style pavilion that drifts above its own lotus pond.

Where Bali's soul checks in and never leaves

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 21 hours ago

Tucked where Canggu's lively party scene meets frangipani and old temple stone, Tugu's location feels less like an address and more like a secret the island kept for itself. The atmosphere is the hotel's greatest feat, every corridor a curated labyrinth of antique wayang puppets, century-old antiques, fabric hangings so fine they look like frozen smoke. It breathes. It hums. Our room offered hand-carved teak furniture, a four-poster bed, and a private plunge pool that mirrored the morning sky. Not a surface felt generic. Cleanliness was impeccable, housekeeping moved through like a quiet tide. Noise was nearly nonexistent (in the room); even with Canggu's party culture at the property's edge, the loudest thing inside was the ceremonial gamelan drifting from the evening prayer offering. The service deserves its own essay. Staff anticipated rather than merely responded. A breakfast preference mentioned once appeared wordlessly the next morning. On value: Tugu is not cheap, but every detail is visible. Come here to remember what travel is supposed to feel like: slightly disorienting, deeply beautiful, impossible to replicate.

One of the nicest place to stay

One of the nicest places to stay in Bali. The authentic Balinese hospitality is truly exceptional, and the team at Hotel Tugu Bali is fantastic. Everyone is always smiling, welcoming, and genuinely committed to making each guest’s experience memorable. The attention to detail, warm service, and unique cultural atmosphere make this a very special place. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable Balinese experience.

Absolutely amazing

After a grate stay at Tugu Lombok we wanted to expiriance another propety from Tugu offer. Both hotels are absolutely amazing places. From the moment we crossed the threshold, the magic started. Surrounded by atmosphere that feels truly special. At Tugu Bali we stayed at Walter Spies Pavilion, a room that is a commemoriation of artist behind the western image of Bali to this day. Room is incredibly beautiful and full of character, and the entire property feels like a living museum. I have had the opportunity to stay in many beautiful hotels, but none of them felt as vivid and authentic as both Tugu hotels.

You won't be disappointed when staying at Hotel Tugu bali

Definitely one of the three best hotels I've stayed at. The staff was incredibly friendly, the room was amazing and the food was delicious. We also had a private pool and a super cute bathroom! On top of that the hotel is located right next to everything you could possibly need, including a beach. The hotel is super quite generally speaking, even though there's clubs nearby, but the noise reduces to a minimum after ~11pm. 10/10 recommend!

Beautiful, huge rooms in a great location with delicious food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

This hotel was a wonderful surprise after a hectic trip from the airport. A strong traditional feel with huge modern rooms. Really recommend a ground floor room, our bathroom was outside !!..a blissful combination with an air conditioned bedroom (more of a suite really with a lounge area) and a gorgeous little private pool. The outside area is beautiful and breakfast was an endless feast with a mixture of Indonesian and every other type of breakfast you could want…delicious smoothies. The staff went above and beyond, waving us off with beaming smiles. The location is exactly where you need to be for Canggu, the hotel is so serene, a much needed sanctuary from the party vide of the area. ‘The Lawn’ beach restaurant and bar is just across the road from the hotel pool entrance …the perfect place to see the incredible Bali sunset. Probably one of the most memorable hotels I have ever stayed in. Highly recommend.

I feel privileged and blessed to have had the opportunity to experience Hotel Tugu Bail. It surpassed my dreams, my hopes and my idea of the perfect vacation. Beyond perfect! I don't think I'll ever encounter anything as exquisitely beautiful as the Hotel Tugu Bali experience. The staff is the best of the best!

For several decades we have been going to Bali. In all that time we have never experienced such a wonderful domain like this magical place. Yes, of course the dining, the artwork, the amenities, the accommodations, the kind and constant attention. But more, much more, is the overwhelming sense that this is a most spiritually blessed & balanced place, a place of tranquility and peace.

Simply the best of Bali.

My family would like to say a very special "Thank you" for your kind hospitality & friendliness during our almost week long stay in Tugu-Bali! Your hotel is truly unique - a wonderful museum of Balinese history & culture. The Balinese food is as beautiful and diverse as the artwork and furniture in the hotel. Our romantic dinner in the Bale Puputan, Royal Balinese dining room will be remembered forever! Le Mayeur Suite was a palace for a king & queen! However, the beauty of the buildings, the wonderful gardens & lily pond were all brought alive by the people too! The Tugu staff who were always smiling, always pleasant & always willing to serve! A magnificent holiday! We will always be truly grateful & have these wonderful memories with us!

What a wonderful, wonderful hotel you are. In fact, you are more than a hotel, by far. You gave us five days of incomparable charm, with peace and contentment as our healing balm, that left our hearts full of love for you all.

Thank you for having been able to spend five marvelous days at Tugu Bali. The first impression arriving at the hotel was over whelming! The generous entrance hall is impressive. The reception of your staff was a new experience for us and is a mirror of the excellent atmosphere and service. Instead of just standing at an anonymous reception desk waiting for check-in we were asked to sit down in a comfortable chair, were offered a drink, while friendly ladies did the formalities for us, Extraordinary! We spent our holidays in harmony with Balinese culture and its beautiful island.
