It’s been two weeks since I returned home, yet I still find myself thinking about my stay at The Sukhothai Bangkok. That’s how much of an impression this hotel left on me, and why I felt compelled to write this genuine review. I stayed at the hotel for 8 days as part of a staycation-style trip. For this kind of travel, I pay close attention to the hotel environment — the cleanliness of the room, quality of facilities, the tranquility of the surroundings, and whether the in-house dining can meet my needs on days I prefer to stay in. The Sukhothai checked all of those boxes and more. From the moment I checked in, the service stood out. A front desk staff member personally escorted me to my room, introducing the hotel’s facilities, restaurant hours, the gym, and the pool along the way. It was a thoughtful touch I hadn’t experienced at other hotels. Though the hotel is located right off a major road in the heart of Bangkok, it felt remarkably quiet — like a hidden oasis in the city. Two moments during my stay left a lasting impression: The first was after a workout, when I realized I really needed a banana. Unfortunately, the breakfast restaurant had already closed and was being cleaned. I asked a staff member I spotted in the hallway, explaining my situation. She took nearly five minutes to go — what I assume was — all the way to a storage area or cold room (since the bananas didn't come from the kitchen), and returned not with just one, but a whole paper bag of bananas. I was deeply touched by her thoughtfulness. The second happened late one night. I had just taken a shower using the overhead rain shower for the first time, and didn’t realize that the drainage might be clogged. By the time I stepped out, water had overflowed across the bathroom and even reached under the bed. I felt quite bad about calling room service in the middle of the night, but the housekeeping staff arrived quickly to help clean up. To my surprise, they also took the initiative to contact the night manager, Mr. Thakorn Phromchai. I didn’t understand their conversation in Thai, but I believe the staff had proactively explained that it was likely a drainage issue and not caused by guest misuse. Mr. Thakorn arrived shortly after, apologized sincerely, and kindly upgraded my room to an executive suite for the remainder of my stay. What truly moved me wasn’t the room upgrade, as I do bear some responsibility — when I noticed the water pooling around my ankles, I should have paused to check. What stood out was how the staff looked at the situation from the guest’s perspective and acted to prevent a similar issue from happening again. They didn’t want a guest staying up in the middle of the night waiting for plumbing repairs. That’s the level of professionalism I believe a five-star hotel should strive for. Next time I visit Bangkok, The Sukhothai will definitely be my first choice again. After all, many hotels can offer beautiful design — but it’s the people that truly make a stay exceptional.

Having my afternoon tea here and as I’m vegetarian the restaurant able to change the course to vegetarian version for me. They are very kind as they will ask for your allergy food and etc. Their service is so good as always with smile. Nong and Boom service are really good!

The hotel is designed by two designers I like very much, Kerry Hill and Ed Tuttle. It has a strong Thai style and excellent oriental color art. The club suite is well maintained and comfortable to live in. The service staff I met in the hotel greeted me warmly to meet my needs. The breakfast in the restaurant on the first floor and the happy hour in the executive lounge are of good quality and delicious.

Nice coffee and fantastic garden. Very good service. Will certainly come back. What a nice lotus pond and the plumeria trees. Khun Sri and Khun Mae at the Thimiàn cafe have a very good service mind. Come and experience the atmosphere by yourself. Very much impressive.

I recently visited the chocolate buffet restaurant again and had a wonderful experience overall. The service was excellent — the staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our visit especially khun Nong, khun Aom-am and khun Mark. However, I did notice that the food quality had dropped slightly compared to my previous visits. While the selection was still impressive and the desserts beautifully presented, some items didn’t quite meet the high standard I had come to expect.
