Overlooking one of Edinburgh's prettiest private garden squares, Kimpton Charlotte Square consists of seven interconnecting Georgian townhouses in the heart of the New Town. Our beautifully formed bedrooms and suites are inspired by the golden age of travel and a genuine sense of Scottish hospitality. Sitting proudly in the middle of the hotel is The Garden bar and restaurant, an oasis of calm in the centre of the city. Light and bright during the day for breakfast and lunch, transforming in to a fairy lit hideaway in the evening for cocktails and dinner. Sample our Twilight Tea, a unique take on the classic afternoon tea with a focus on savoury flavours from 12pm to 10pm every day. BABA restaurant is a sumptuous, relaxed journey to the Levant, featuring mezze, charcoal dishes and small plates with bold Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours perfect for sharing. Cocktails take on the adventurous flavours to continue the journey until late in the BABA bar.

Nice hotel, clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Raj was excellent. Room was nice - good size, comfortable with nice bathroom. Air conditioner did not work well and very low water pressure in the bathroom. Good breakfast and a cocktail hour.

An exceptional hotel. Beautiful rooms and excellent staff. Mael, in particular, went far out of her way to accommodate our needs

I always seek out the Kimpton brand when traveling, however, this was the most disappointing Kimpton I have come across so far. We were given a lackluster greeting at check-in and a room that was clearly not renovated and not one that is advertised much. It was also covered in dust on top of the wardrobe that we discovered by briefly placing a pillow up there. The spa facility was small and the sauna faces the pool so people awkwardly watch you sit in there from the water. How relaxing! They are supposed to be a very dog friendly brand and, yet, even when they were aware of my dog being part of my stay they had nothing prepared in our room for her. Getting these items was a pain and we ended up with only a water bowl and no apology for not providing anything in the first place. Not to mention they made me sign a waiver agreeing to a £200 fine if my dog is disruptive during our stay. I have never come across a waiver like this at any other Kimpton and if you look online they never state any pet policy regarding this. I feel this was completely unacceptable to not warn people beforehand online of their policies. I would never have bothered booking this hotel had I known the extent to which they don’t seem to actually want dogs there. The website would have you believe it was the most welcoming place ever for them. Thankfully we only stayed one night, but I wish I hadn’t stayed here at all.

Just had a fantastic stay at The Kimpton. The staff here can’t help enough and the rooms are clean, spacious and well stocked with everything you need. We liked the decor and the boutique feel. Nice touch to have an hour with a selection of free drinks for guests. On the whole we had a great positive stay with the only negatives being - the corridors are noisy so can make getting to sleep difficult when other guests are returning to rooms and we would have like the Garden room to stay open later so giving more food options at dinner. That said Edinburgh is a place to eat and drink with some excellent restaurants

We had a wonderful stay at the Kimpton Charlotte Square. Our room was spacious, super clean and well-stocked with toiletries, water and snacks. There were also robes and slippers for us to use; the robes were particularly useful when using the pool. Breakfast was included in our package. The food was tasty, freshly cooked and replenished regularly throughout service. We could also order from the a la carte menu if we wished - the porridge is delicious by the way! There is a complimentary happy hour in The Garden part of the bar which is a treat! We used the bar a few times of an evening. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly bar staff. They have a 'signature' cocktail menu but were very happy to mix a Mojito for me and will make other classic cocktails on request. All of the staff we met were welcoming, friendly and happy to help. The hotel itself is less than a ten minute walk from the tram stop and close to all the amenities and attractions that Edinburgh City Centre has to offer. We cannot fault the time we spent at the Kimpton and are looking forward to returning in the future.
