Memories made in this gem of a hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

We are just leaving this amazing hotel after having the most wonderful 5 nights stay . After reading reviews on this I was worried we were not going to enjoy this hotel but nothing could have been further from it …. The hotel is simply stunning,, the rooms main rooms , bar , walkways are breathtaking to look at . We stayed in an elite room it was clean & comfortable ,, modern bathroom ,, comfortable beds ,, only minor issue is no tea & coffee making facilities,, but you can walk 2 minutes to main hotel where there are tea facilities and fresh water ,, we needed to iron our clothes one night and we asked for a iron & ironing board but they don’t allow them in your room ,, we were shown where a room was that had iron & ironing boards to take out clothes to to iron again a a few minutes walk to get to the room or you can hand items into reception . We used the shuttle bus regularly which was brilliant into the town square or train station. The staff at the hotel were outstanding especially Hana nothing was too much trouble . We were going to the Coliseum one day & were dropped off at the train station we realised we had forgotten our ID we contacted the hotel who sent the shuttle bus back down to pick us up & take us back to get our ID then dropped us back at train station so we made our train on time . We ate at restaurant in the hotel the food was tremendous 5 star food & service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We would highly recommend this gem of a hotel , we can’t wait to return for another visit. Jane & Callum

Fine and convenient if attending a wedding.

We came for a wedding. Beautiful venue. Room was basic. Wedding rate did not appear discounted and were not located together. had to pay at time of booking and you can't cancel. I would go through a hotel provider. Could not see advantage of going direct. No safe. No dressing gown. Poor wi-fi in room. Only water in minibar. No in room service. Bar/restaurant restricted hours. Long walk to breakfast & pool. AND No toilet or changing facilities at pool. Limited toilets for general use. few sockets in room. Staff seemed indifferent. Lots of RULES!!! GOOD shuttle to town free and easy to arrange. Not sure I'd want to stay here if not attending a wedding. They take over.

Beautiful Villa, Very Disappointing Room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

We recently stayed her for three nights. As the Villa rooms were all taken, we booked a room in the former Limonaia, knowing it would be small. Although clean, we were not expecting it to be so spartan and shabby. The furniture was chipped, the curtains starting to rot with holes visible, the upholstery on one of the two straight-backed chairs was torn (there was no other comfortable chair), a bedside lamp was wobbly and nearly broken at the base and the shower door jammed and had to be fixed as we could not access the shower. The water in the shower was never more than luke-warm. The mini-bar consisted of a fridge with two bottles of water, nothing else. The fridge was not working and was replaced but still did not keep drinks even a little cold. The air-conditioning was stuck on a low temperature that made the room very cold, despite the heat outdoors. After our initial disappointment, we had a wander around the public rooms of the Villa. The history and detail of the unrestored frescoes in this 16th century building is amazing; the restored frescoes in the Galleria del Pannini extraordinary. Furthermore, guests were able to sit and relax in any of the rooms on the ground floor. We decided to do this as our room had nowhere other than the bed upon which to relax. There was something quite wonderfully surreal about sitting in a room built in the late 1500s and chatting as light streamed in through the tall windows framed by shutters. There is a pool with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. It was clean and refreshing. We enjoyed this on the days we were there. Towels are provided. We ended up enjoying our stay at Villa Grazioli because we were able to use the public rooms, the staff were welcoming and the restaurant, Grazioli Art Bistrot, was excellent. (This is covered in another review.) Would we return? Sadly, as our room was so disappointing, we would not.
