Designer Philippe Starck conceived St Martins Lane London as a surrealist wonderland viewed through the looking glass of classic British eccentric taste. Cheeky and daring with a touch decadent, the lobby and social spaces are signature Starck style. It’s fitting that the hotel is situated in the bustling theatre district in Covent Garden - it is pure drama. Just ask the garden gnomes; this is classic London with a seriously seductive twist. Floor-to-ceiling windows at St Martins Lane pull the cityscape into each guest room, offering a dramatic perspective on the energetic city below. The Tim Andreas of Banjo design rooms evoke a sense of spaciousness and luxury by using a mix of both naturally inspired and modern materials. The overall effect is an ethereal, yet sensuous experience.

I booked this hotel for an early 80th birthday surprise for mum as we seeing kinky boots as my mum cannot walk far. I booed the deluxe garden room I asked extra pillows which the hotel accommodated. I phoned the hotel to say it was for birthday and when got to the hotel they had put a piece of cake and a bottle of wine. The room was clean and tidy and we could not fault it. My mum liked the little garden. We had the pre theatre meal and they gave my mum another piece of cake. The staff were so helpful. When left we asked f the staff could telephone a taxi which they did as it was raining the staff held umbrella over my mum to get in a taxi. I would recommend this hotel highly and my mum really enjoyed her early birthday present and we would come back again.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this hotel as a hidden gem. For a short trip it is very well located; we probably got a room upgrade and we had this fantastic massive room with really large windows and the guys at reception (Mohammad, Kelvin and Andrew) were super welcoming and helpful. I would love to visit again.

You can say what you like about this former-Schrager property which hasn't been updated since its original inception, but it's more than an uber-hip 2000's designer address, with pink lit revolving doors, heavy velvet curtaining and a row of oversized golden molars diagonally across the reception area. It's also more than a decent breakfast spread and more than a cute pink tea-room, it's probably the most perfect location for any London trip. Slap bang between Trafalgar Square, Soho square and the heart of the West-end theater district, you can literally spit in any direction and experience all the London likes to offer.

St. Martens is a quiet, classy place to stay and an easy walk to Trafalgar Square and many of the West End Theatres. The tour bus stops are not far away so it's a great place for tourists with easy access to the various parts of the city. The staff was very helpful. While there is a restaurant on site, right down the street is a cafe where we were able to get a coffee and light breakfast, and a couple of pizza places that worked great for us for dinner. Very clean!

Fantastic contemporary hotel, ideally located in Covent Garden, just a few blocks from the National Gallery. The breakfast buffet is delicious! The rooms are very well designed. Everything works beautifully to enhance one’s stay. Highly recommend!
