Service Charge Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

We just attended a wedding at this resort. My husband and I were 1 of more than 30 couples that stayed at the resort. The resort location is beautiful and the rooms clean and spacious. The food very good. What was TERRIBLE was the resort manager and his attitude. The resort uses and outside reservation company. The price quoted us and what the resort charged us was not the same. The manager told us to bring this up with the bride and groom. They signed a contract. The bride/groom wanted to hand out gift bags to their guests and they wanted to charge them $5 a bag. The resort places a service charge on everthing. They also charge a $40 resort fee per day. If you want an umbrella on the beach that costs $35 a day after service charge. The resort is very expensive and offers very little compared to other resorts. Fir the amount of money the bride and groom paid for their wedding at the clubhouse at this resort and what they offered them and treated many of the bridal party guests I would never stay there again. I vacation at the Sandals Resorts for the last 8 years and they offer much, much more and treat their guests much better. All drinks, food, golf, entertainment and activities are included and no add on resort fees and service charges for everything.

Sam, the pool and beach attendant

Sam, our pool and beach attendant was soooo accommodating! Was here a week and graciously helped with our umbrellas, chairs and extra towels. Just ask for Sam! The steaks at Latitude restaurant are fantastic! The guest rooms very clean and spacious!

wheelchair accessible resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We had a great trip to the LBKC in April. We've been there before to use the pool and beach as guests of members, but this was our first stay at the hotel. We stayed in an ocean view 2BR 2 bath suite with kitchen and washer dryer, room 2703, which was beautiful and accessible. I use a wheelchair, and the suite worked well for me. There is a roll on shower in the bathroom with the king bed, and the king bed was lower. The other room is a two queen bed; the shower is not accessible and the beds were higher; so only the king bedroom/bath was accessible. I could not pull under the sink because of the vanity. Each bedroom and the living room had a balcony, they all connected, and the balcony door of the living room was accessible (the door swings out instead of the sliders which have a substantial lip). I would not be able to get out on the balcony of the non-accessible rooms due to the lip of the sliders. The table in the kitchen was also at table height instead of counter height. The ocean view was spectacular. The suite was quiet. We loved the huge space. The sunset views from our balcony were gorgeous. The other amazing thing about this hotel is that they have TWO beach wheelchairs! And they always had pool lifts, but they just put in new ones post-hurricane, and they worked perfectly. These things make the resort very wheelchair friendly. All the reviews talking about high cost are totally accurate. You pay a lot for your room, then there is a resort fee, then you pay for chairs and umbrellas on the beach. You don't have to pay for chairs at the pool, but you do have to ask the pool valets to set up towels for you (or you are supposed to) and then you feel like you need to tip them. We love the food and drink service at the pool and beach, and the food is pretty good. There is a ton of plastic containers that feel like a waste. I've been to other resorts that delver food to the beach in reusable containers. I found the breakfast food, both a la carte and buffet to be sub par, though my omelette at the buffet very very good. We went with our daughter who met another kid at the pool and had a great time. We hope to be back again soon!

Coming here for 8 years

Jason was a great help to me and my family. We have been coming here for 8 years. He is very very personable and went above and beyond to make sure we were all happy! It is my brother and his girlfriends 5 year anniversary and him being the first person to help us made it even better.

Longboat Key Club & Resort without a doubt should be listed as a five-star resort. The staff, location, cuisine and activities all equate to the favorite all time resort at which my family loves to stay. The two-bedroom deluxe unit is outstanding with an unbeatable view. Longboat Key is close to St. Armands Circle so shopping is a fabulous day trip. The new spa at the Key Club is also a nice relaxing day. Tennis, golf and water sports on property, but nothing beats the beautiful white fine sugar sand of the Gulf of Mexico. The evenings bring the best in many gourmet restaurants within close proximity, and most are listed in Wine Spectator. No matter where our family goes in the world, this resort is our all time favorite!
